Exactly the same problem. Battery fully charged but unit won't power on. Lifeless. Any ideas?

Same problem. Use camera regularly. One day, it won't turn on. Battery fully charged.

  • safety lady May 19, 2008

Exact same problem. Have 2 sets or batteries. Tried both and they are fully charged. Hardly used camera and it is slightly out of 1 year warranty. There goes a couple hundred dollars down the drain since Panasonic wants to charge $161 to just look at it!

This website is useless... No one has any follow ups or solutions that help. Didn't ANYONE take their camera in? What did the shop say?

I have somewhat of the same problem, I barely have used my camera as well and a new battery didn't fix it.  Oddly though, if I keep turning the camera on and off and taking the battery/memory card back in, pushing random buttons, eventually it turns back on again.  It's definitely not an ideal fix, but at least I can take pictures, albeit frustratingly.

To purchase a battery for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX01 is it easily available or does one need to have a specific serial number of the battery for the said camera

it is just a battery and camera manufacturers use generic batteries
take the old battery out and all you need is a battery the same shape , voltage and composition --ni-cad or metal hydroxide
they would be available at any camera shop or online from e-bay

Panasonic DMC FX01 with new battery still won't turn on?

If your panasonic camera uses a panasonic battery and you try to use a different brand equivalent battery, some panasonics will not work. Could that be your problem?

Camera (Lumix DMC FX01) does not turn on. I purchased a new battery and it charges but the camera will not turn on. The camera is like new and has rarely been used

believe it or not, take your camera and wack it into your open hand, with the screen side. Remove first all rings on your hand or you might loose your screen. If this does not work your camera for all practical purposes is toast, too expensive to get repaired. Sell it on ebay with: "screen not craked" and buy a replacement: 230505313571. I also love this camera and they often come up on ebay for <$50.

Lumix DMC-FX01 Buttons not working

Remove the card and battery. Clean the battery contacts inside camera with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol. Be sure battery is charged. Press all buttons on camera. Insert card and then the battery. See if it works. If you can now get into the setup menu, you can do a reset from the menu.

Panasonic lumix -fx01 digicam isnt responding

After posting on here I took my FX01 to a repair centre and was informed the motherboard had died. They couldn't give a specific reason for this, saying it could be anything relating to humidity, extreme temperatures, static, even just a slight knock, etc. Cost of repair was higher than purchase of a new camera so I grudgingly went for that option. I hope you guys have better luck!

My pansonic lumix -fx01 digicam isnt responding ...seems sort of hung..

You can call  (044) 22352501

check this website for frequent issues with DMC FX01's

My only direct suggestion is to take the battery out for a few minutes and then replace it. Failing that, try running the camera with charger without battery installed.
