I need beep codes for my Toshiba Sat C655-S5504

I am in A+ class for my Computer Science degree and we are doing a little extra work on Bios Post and the beep codes. I have looked in most every direction and can not find the beep codes for the Toshiba Sat C655-S5504. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Robert

Go to the guys that know! THe guys at Toshiba, on line of course! Go to the Toshiba website and put in your computer model. Ask for the error codes for it. You may have to go to technical service to get these codes.

3 beeps usually means that either the chipset or the processor is dead. Nothing you can do, take it to a repair shop.

My Dell laptop makes 12 beeps and won't start, why?

Most likely one of the components on the motherboard has fried.

One other thing to try that probably won't fix your problem. Is to take out the battery and try it plugged in. That way it will tell you if a bad battery is pulling down the power supply or the power supply is dead and it's trying to run on the last of the battery power.

If the screen stays black throughout the power-up then it most likely isn't the hard drive and you'll be able to get your information out of it with an adapter and a little work. (as long as it's not encrypted)

Computer POST and beep codes
The computer power on self test (POST) will test your computer to make sure it can boot properly(test hardware and sys requirements), once it does the computer will then finish the boot process. Normally, if your computer passes the POST test it will beep once or possibly twice. If the computer fails the POST then it will either not beep at all or generate a beep code.

The beep code you receive can indicate what may be wrong with your computer. The beep codes vary depending on your motherboard BIOS manufacturer(AMI, Award, Phoenix). You can find what BIOS you are using by paying attention to the BIOS screen when your computer boots up. It should tell you what brand BIOS.

You can usually find the meaning of your beep code by doing a simple google search i.e "phoenix beep codes". Below, I have provided links to sites which go over beep codes and their respective meaning.

I have a Toshiba laptop model# C655-S5501 with a bad keyboard (Gator Aid!). I can't find an exact model # match through Amazon. Will the "Eathtek NEW Keyboard For TOSHIBA SATELLITE C655-S5128 C655

Check eBay. I've been working on computers for years and order ALL of my replacement keyboards through eBay. I just found 9 of them after entering your model number; about $16 with free shipping. Sarawill82 hit the nail on the head for the replacement; you tube is your friend if you're doing it yourself. If it doesn't have your exact laptop, look at other videos. It will give you an idea what you need to look for to replace the keyboard.

It beats paying a computer store a $45+ bench fee, and it will only take you about 15 minutes as a novice.

Don't try to clean it; you could cause more extensive damage than just replacing the keyboard.

How do I reinstall Bios

Need more details; the BIOS is a hardwired chip that is part of your motherboard. Rarely does it give problems. What exactly is your problem that you feel the cause is the BIOS?
Or..... do you mean that you want to flash your BIOS to upgrade it??

Random short beep

Does it do it with the sound muted? Is it a BIOS type beep? OR, Open your Sounds, Sound Scheme, try to ID the beep by going through the Sounds Scheme, testing each one.

My toshiba satellite c655 laptop has a black screen with a blue box asking for a current password

Sounds like the HDD password or Bios password got set.

You may need to talk to the person who set that password to be able to finish booting up the computer.

If that person is not available - you can call the Toshiba 1-800-457-7777. They may want to charge you for the over the phone support - but they should be able to walk you through how to get around the Bios or Hdd password if that is indeed your problem.

Toshiba Satellite m55 that will not pass post, 3-4-3 beep code

Sound like your Video Card has gone down i think it cant find the VGA bios

I get one long beep and one extra long beep on startup. Computer just beeps and nothing else.

The computer POST (Power On Self Test) tests the computer, insuring that it meets the necessary system requirements and that all hardware is working properly before starting the remainder of the boot process. If the computer passes the POST the computer will have a single beep (with some computer BIOS manufacturers it may beep twice) as the computer starts and the computer will continue to start normally. However, if the computer fails the POST, the computer will either not beep at all or will generate a beep code, which tells the user the source of the problem.

This issue can be caused by any of the below situations.
  1. New hardware conflicting with old hardware.
  2. Bad or failing hardware device.
  3. Connections not connected or connected properly.
  4. Recent electrical storm that caused a surge that damaged computer.
  5. Other hardware issue.
you can determine the meaning of your beeps finding out with your BIOS System installed on your machine.

Usually you probably have some memory problem.
