You most likely have a burn in on the surface of one of the picture tubes. What you need to do to confirm this, would be to take off the front screen, and with the set turned on, look directly into each one of the lenses, and see if you see a mark on the green or the blue tube. if this is the case, and I am pretty sure it is, the picture tube will need to be replaced, but this set is not a young thing, as the green faint lines is most likely a bad capacitor in the screen drive circuit. If the picture tube is indeed burned on the surface, most likely be better off buying a new TV set. Good Luck

Auto focus not working red green lines on the screen

If it is a 42h83, this is a 2003 model that uses two STK-392-110 convergence IC's---both need to be replaced along with any open resistors around them(most of the time only the two IC's are bad but whoever does the repair should check to see if any of the protect (called feedback) resistors are open---they are checked with a meter just like a fuse.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together convergence repair kits for most models.

The kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, etc. Everything you will need to do the repair yourself.
