I used to have and old router. It worked perfectly. I had it all worked out. But then my buddy gave me this web sight and I got a bug. Then when I cleaned out my computer I found out that the router died. So I got a new one. But I can't get it to work. Oh yeah I have this Verizon Modem thing and now I can't get it to work. I need help. I need help because when I try to use it the router says its conneted to the Internet. But When the Router disk does the scan It says that the router can't connect to the Internet. I have no idea why. When I check the router the Internet light is still on. I really need help.
Host Name and Domain Name are not required fields by Verizon Online. LAN IP Address is by default: 192.168.1.1 Subnet Mask should be 255.255.255.0 Wireless should be Enabled to use wireless capabilities. The ESSID is by default: linksys. (It can be changed, but ALL devices that communicate using the wireless network must have the same ESSID) Channel is by default 6 and WEP is by default set to Disable. WAN Connection Type is how the router gets it's IP address from the network. Obtain an IP automatically is the DHCP setting. PPPoE settings: User Name and Password: as supplied by Verizon Online. If Connect on Demand is selected, the router will only connect when needed. Keep alive should be selected and is the recommended setting for Verizon Online. Note: Click the Drop-Down to access other Connections types. (DHCP and Static). Click Password to continue

I work for verizon dsl as advanced tech support. it could be that your modem and router have the same ip go into the router and change the ip to 192.168.2.1 and power cycle, that should get you online

The easiest way to solve this might be to reset the router to its defaults and start over. Most routers have a reset button on the back. Check your manual for this procedure. Once you've done that, insert the install disk and follow the directions carefully. This is a fairly bullet-proof routine nowadays. If you need more help, let me know your Router make and model and your computer OS.
