Hi, I bought a brand new ps3 console yesterday and everything worked fine when I set it up. I did not have to change any settings in relation to the display at all and it was perfect when I tried out my two new games on it. However, when I went to turn it on and play tonight, the picture size seems to have randomly change itself. It appears to be zoomed in really far and a good portion is cut off the bottom of the screen. I have tried adjusting every possible picture setting on the ps3 and my TV, which is a large Pioneer plasma (not sure exactly what size). Please tell me there is a fix for this and I don't need a new TV :(

Hi.

No you shouldn't need a new TV, all you need to do is reset the video settings, follow the guide below >>>>>

  1. Make sure that you have only 1 type of video cable connected between your PS3 and your TV or monitor, an HDMI cable is optimal. If you have multiple video connections the reset sometimes does not work.
  2. Make sure that your TV or monitor is turned on and set to the proper input for your PS3.
  3. With your PS3 in standby mode, turn your console on using the front power button and hold the button down. With the button held down, You will here one beep when the console first turns on, and, after about 4-5 seconds, you will here a second beep. When you here the second beep let go of the button.
  4. If you watch the screen you should see it flicker once or twice and then your system should boot up and go to a screen to confirm your video settings. Simply confirm the settings and you should be able to resume playing your PS3 as normal.
  5. If your system does not boot up and give you the confirmation screen for your video settings, then you should shut the system off and restart the system as normal. This will usually finalize the reset of the video settings.
  6. If your system still is not displaying video then please repeat steps 1-5 again. It is unlikely but, you may have to reset the video 3-4 times before it works with your console. The reason for this is unknown.
  7. The procedure to reset video ,on your PS3, should be complete at this point and you should be back up and running as normal.
NOTES: PS3 "slim" models are always in standby mode when plugged in. PS3 "fat" models must have the rear power switch turned on. If you are only using the composite video cables, then there will be no confirmation screens for your video settings.

Regards.

SOURCE: Games run on hdmi, but not Blu-ray movies

You most likely have the updated drivers. You may have to go and change a setting. I found an answer on the PS3 website that may be of some use to you. I hope this helps you: http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3&message.id=1662191 From the site: "go to bd/dvd setting and set the "108024hz" option off"

SOURCE: PS3 not working thru HDMI cable

i am having the same problem, so i called the mfg. of the tv and they told me to set the PlayStation to out put 1080i and not 1080p i don't think this is possible. my tv is a Hitachi and they are sending me an update card for the tv, hopefully this will fix the problem. Apparently its a problem with the tv not being able to receive a 1080p signal

SOURCE: PS3 - green Bar when playing blue ray on my 50" Phillips Plasma

Green bar or border is due to wrong AV Setting. To resolve this just insert the Blue-Ray DVD and begin to play. Press the Triangle button and select "AV Setting", in AV Setting change Video Output to RGB.

SOURCE: ps3 screen margins too wide for tv display

Try holding your power button on your ps3 down till it blinks.(not your main power switch on back of console) I do believe if correct, this should reset your ps3 resolution to an auto set for best display on your tv. It may pop up with a message on resolution, but that should work. I had similar problems and that worked for me.

Our Ps3 has stopped communicating to our Sony T.V. The ps3 still works but it won't talk to the t.v. They are both Sony products and the HDMI seems to have stopped working. All other gaming console's

Hi.

You will probably have to make sure the video output settings are set up.

Make sure the PS3 is turned off and make sure that the HDMI lead is properly connected, also make sure you have selected the correct source on the TV.

Press and hold the power button until you hear 2 beeps. That will allow you to set up the desired video output.

If you still have a blank screen then I would change the HDMI cable as that could be faulty.

Good luck!!

Everything is connected, i can hear it, but cant see it

The previous answer is partly right. Are you both using HDMI, or are you changing connection method. If you change method, you must reset the graphics settings, which can be a bit tricky without a screen. Turn off your PS3, then Press AND HOLD on the Power Symbol for some time, or until you hear the beeps, and the flight flashes green, then, it should work.

I have the same problem with my Samsung LE46A656 A1F Full HD

Hi,

If it was doing it on your old console then its the TV not the PS3.

Causes: HDMI cable (Replace cable), HDMI socket on TV (Get it repaired), If it happens on all HDMI inputs then the video board maybe faulty, Interference - location of PS3 to other equipment.

The first thing to do is move everything else away from your TV except for the PS3, now factory reset the Samsung TV and make sure your firmware is up to date my records show that an update came out in May for your TV, also factory reset the PS3 and setup the HDMI video settings using the wizrad in the PS3, now connect the PS3 through all HDMI inputs to see if its one input or all, if all inputs are the same then the TV maybe faulty.

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks

Weird

I believe only voices from other players come through on the headset. Other game sounds (cutscenes, gun shots, explosions, etc.) come through the TV. Try checking the Chat or Accessory settings on your PS3 to see if there's an option to change where the sound comes from. It'll be in the PS3 dashboard (press the PS3 button on your controller). I hope this helps and don't forget to rate. Good luck and thank you!
