Question about Hitachi DZ-MV550 DVD Camcorder

1 Answer

Disc Error The problem that has been occuring on our Hitachi MV550 DVD camcorder on a regular basis is the disc error problem resulting in disc failure. In recording a graduation cerimony this error occur resulting in all video being lost. VERY FRUSTRATING and DISAPPOINTING. Again I used it at a friend's wedding - after 15 minutes of recording the disc error message came on and that was the end of that precious video. My question or plea - is there any way of retrieving the video on that disc once it has failed. Maybe a professional with professional equipment can retrieve it? I am desparate to get the video of the wedding off this stupid disc. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your reply. I did exactly that - tried doing the restore option that the recorder gives which unfortunately did not work. Then I brought it to a data recovery place on Burrard in Vancouver ... very helpful and professional. They were only able to recover a very small amount of video - not worth recording unfortunately (no charge). If I had read the instructions thoroughly before using the recorder - like I did after this problem occurred, I would have had a better chance at saving more data. So, lesson learnt - life happens.

I have the same problem. When trying to record precious moments of my two young boys, I keep getting the DISC ERROR message, Just like the other complaint, this is very FRUSTRATING and HEARTBREAKING when you purchase an expensive camcorder to record special moments you can't get back!!! Like my son's 2nd birthday party and my college graduation party, all I have now are pictures.

Before I throw in the towel (and throw away $700) is there anything I can do to save my camcorder?? PLEASE HELP

If you don't mind paying out some money, data recovery experts can possibly retrieve the data. You may want to try doing it yourself though because at least you know you won't damage the actual disk. Who knows what will happen to it after it has left your possesion.

Camcorder when recording displays, hard disk error occurred and does not record.

Possible that you will need to format off the hard disc and clean off all the files present. The camcorder seems to hang up as there is some errors occurs on the hard disc. If this wont solve it is possible that some sectors in the hard disc can be faulty.

DVD Finalization

im guessing your talking about a new disc here , before you can do anything with the disc ,you will either have to format it or erase it, once you have donr that you can then use the disc and edit its contents. im assuming you are using the correct type of disc for your machine, eg dvd+rw or dvd-rw check the manual to make sure your machine can record onto a dvd+rw disc. hope this is of some help to you.

Hitachi BX37E error

You can try to clean the laser lens first with a q-tip and 99% alcohol. If that fails, you should take it in for repair because the laser lens mechanism may be out of line because of a bump. There may also be a dust build up inside that prevents the proper movement of the lens. This can be done at home too.

Error code 2881

Hi,

Found error in image file, Error Occurred, error 0901, 572, 2881
The camera says found error in image file, repair data now. When you press yes it says "Error occurred. Please replace disc." or use ac adapter/charger, turn off power. It won't let you go to Disc Navigation to finalize it. While recording video on DVD-R media the battery power may have failed and camera shut off. When turned on the message shown on the lcd is Found error in image file, Error Occurred, error 0901.

Regards.

Can you pls tell me what error message # 2881 means?

Error message 2881 means that the camcorder can not read the disc. Check to make sure you have the correct disc type. Only DVD-R 4.7GB and DVD-Ram types will work. If you are using the correct disk type, then you can try this: Eject the disk and if it it empty just open the cd door. With the lens to the left and the door on the top. look into the device. You will see to the left side a metal platform that houses the dvd laser. take and push the platform all the way to the left. Sometimes the platform fails to retract, so once you do this it may clear the issue. . Good luck and thank you for using FixYa! We would sure appreciate a 4 "thumbs-up" rating for this FREE answer. Happy holidays!

I just bought the Hitachi DZ-MV550A NTSC camcorder and I cant get it to play on dvd player on the TV Can you please help me Thank you

you need to finalize the disc. With the recorded disc in, hit the "disc navigation" button and you will see a place to hit "finalize". Move cursor to "finalize" and then click "yes". You can only finalize a disc using the AC power source, it will not do it from your battery. You should then be able to play it on your dvd player.

How to finalize a disc on a hitachi dz mv550

After you have recorded all the information that you would like on your disc, the process is simple, just go to the menu and pic the finalize option under the disc utilities feature. I have found that some ram disc's that come with these camcorders will not finalize so if you are using a ram disc and when you do go to the finalize feature you will see that the feature is grayed out and you cant select it. That is a good indication that the disc cannot be finalized. I hope this helps

Are you using a RW disc. You can't finalize a RW disc. RW is that purpose is when you can record over and over. Try using a regular DVD to see that will finalize the disc.

Which Hitachi models use a disc caddy to hold the DVD disc while in the Camcorder?

Current Hitachi Models use no disc caddy for the DVD disc. The 2003 and 2004 line of Hitachi DVD-Camcorders (DZMV350A, DZMV380A and DZMV550A and DZMV580A) utilize a round disc holder to accommodate the smaller design of the newer models. All previous generation DVD-Camcorders use a square cartridge. The actual discs are the same and can be used in all models as long as the disc is placed in the appropriate holder or cartridge.
