Water not filling up the icemaker

We have a Whirlpool GS6SHESNQ00, about a year old. The icemaker stopped making ice - we have replaced the motor module, which seems to be working now. The water isn't filling up the tray. We checked the heating element and it looks like it's is "open", but not sure if that could be part of the problem. We just don't get any water to the icemaker. Could this be a solenoid issue? Help if you can, we would appreciate it. Also, is you know where we could get a schematic of this icemaker - we would be your very best friend :)

On a Frigidaire GLRS264ZA, we have same problem. The ice-maker itself is working but no water is coming in, therefore...no ice. I have isolated to the water inlet valve assembly but need a schematic - or some assistance.

water is at the end of the feeding tube but will not enter the ice box

I have a Kenmore refigerator that is 2 years old. The water will not go into the icemaker. I get water thru the door so I don't think it is clogged. The water is at the same pressure it has always been, so I don't think it is a water issue. Could it be a bad senor, so the ice maker isn't reading that the ice is empty?

You either have a frozen water fill tube or bad water valve. The valve is located in the back of the refrigerator. There is a 1/4 inch tube going from the valve and up the back of the refrigerator to the ice maker fill tube. I would take the tube off at the valve and try blowing thru it. If you can, the valve is bad. If you can't, the fill tube is frozen. If frozen, squirt hot water into the fill tube where the ice maker is located. Hold a cup to catch the water. You will have to remove the ice maker in most cases to do this. Good luck, Mack

It sounds as tho you do have solenoid prob.but it could also be an ice over sit at your water inlet tube that is situated near icemaker.

Whirlpool side by side with water and icemaker. My water works perfectly fine but my ice maker no longer produces ice. It runs but it's not getting any water to make ice. What can be done to fix this?

There are a couple reasons your icemaker will not fill with water.
First thing you want to check for is a frozen fill tube to the icemaker. The easiest way to check for a frozen line is to remove the icemaker. Once the icemaker is removed look for ice in the fill tube. If there is ice in the tube the (water valve) will need to be replaced. You can melt the ice by forcing hot water up the fill tube.
Another reason could be the icemaker is not sending voltage to the water valve. The fix for this issue is to replace the icemaker. Hope this helps you with your whirlpool fridge!

The reason to change the water valve with a frozen water line is because the solenoid is not closing all the way. This allows water to enter the fill tube of the icemaker and freeze based on the temperature.

Icemaker makes shells. Outside is frozen but

Hollow cubes are caused by not having enough water in the ice mold. Fill it up manually by pouring water in it and see how the cubes turn out.
look for an adjustment behind the plastic endcover with a +/- on it. - is less water. + is more water.

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

There is a screen filter before the water inlet valve in the water line. It can get partially stopped up with sediment blocking water flow.

I have a Whirlpool refrige. side by side and the ice maker has stopped working. The infrared light keeps blinking. I have unplugged it a couple of times as well as turned the infrared off. Any advice?

The laser , is supposed to blink . This laser , tells the icemaker to stop making ice , when the bin is full . Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the icemaker . If it doesn't dump the cubes into the bin , the icemaker is bad . Or , if there is ice in the bin , which hasn't dumped , the icemaker is bad . If the icemaker dumps the ice ( from water pour ) , then look above the fill cup , and see if the black fill tube is frozen . If so , then replace the water valve and turn the freezer temp down slightly . It will take several days for this fill line inside freezer to thaw . If icemaker dumps , and black tube NOT frozen , replace the water valve . The valve , is where the wall water line connects to on the refrig

ICE MAKER QUIT MAKING ICE ON MY WHIRLPOOL FRIDGE

I had a Whirlpool Model GD5SHAXNS in which the icemaker quit working about the same time (3 years old). I had water out the dispenser, I found that it was the icemaker itself failed not calling for water to fill it. I replaced it with a icemaker on-line for about $100 and problem fixed. I have been told his is a common problem with the icemaker in this model ref.

Whirlpool Ice Maker Won't release ice

Jetguy77,

I have a 1993 year (16 years old now) Whirlpool side-by-side with icemaker, Model ED22PW. I have had similar problems with the icemaker - water goes in, freezes, but ice does not eject from tray. It has happened to this unit 2 times since 1993. It turns out the problem is not the thermostat. It is the icemaker motor module. The icemaker has a small synchronous (clock) motor that rotates the ice ejector. When it goes bad, the ejector does not rotate, either because the module timer had failed or the motor itself has failed. The solution is to go to your nearest applinace parts dealer and by a new "icemaker motor module" for Whirlpool Model (your model here). Mine cost $58.85 the last time I replaced it in 2006. To install the new module, you will need to remove the icemaker from the refrigerator. Mine has 3 screws that attach it to the side. Also unplug the power & control cable. The water tube slides out when you pull the unit forward. When you get it out, it is then easy to remove the motor module and insert the new one. You may have to reset the timer on the module to get the tray to fill completely.

Whirlpool refrigerator stopped making ice.

If there are ice cubes in the icemaker sitting there waiting to be dumped then the problem is in the icemaker. If the icemaker is dry then you have a water supply problem, even if you have a water in the door working.
1.Check the fill line inside the freezer at the icemaker, if it is clogged with ice then remove this ice and replace the water valve.

2. Check the water supply. Turn the water supply off, disconnect the water line from the Ref, turn the water back on an fill a small glass. If the water supply is good the solenoid on the water valve should be checked. This is done with an OHM meter.

Icemaker stopped making ice

remove the front plastic cover on the icemaker and you will see a bunch of little holes make a jumper wire out #10 or 12 house wire strip about 1/4 inch off the ends an insert in the holes marked t&h this will start a test cycle make sure you hold the plastic insulation so you don't get bit if the ice maker starts cycling remove the wire and watch for it to stop listen for the icemaker valve to open if the ice maker finishes and the valve didn’t fill replace the water valves if the icemaker doesnt cycle and you may have to kind of twist the jumper back and forth to get it to make contact depending on the gauge you used then replace the ice maker motor module if you hear the valve open and the ice maker doesnt fill check for a frozen ice fill tube that should do it

Whirlpool side by side icemaker won't stop... lol

no you shouldnt have to replace the ice maker, the stop arm probably is not in place. pull the ice maker out and check where the arm goes into the motor head. I think that will solve it for you. Good Luck.
