Question about Dynex DX-FC103 (DXFC103) Serial Adapter

2 Answers

Not working... Hi! This is my first time asking for help and would appreciate any help received. I am having some difficulties getting my Dynex firewire port recognized. I followed the instructions which came with the product exactly, and yet no automatic install for drivers came up. I could not find any drivers for this product online anywhere, including the Dynex website. Again, thanks for your time and any help would be great. -Josh

Possible that Windows has tried once and tagged the hardware as "present but problematic". Look in the following: 1.) right click "My Computer" icon and select PROPERTIES. 2.) select HARDWARE then DEVICE MANAGER then try to find your device. It may be easy to find if my assumption was correct because Windows will place a special thumbnail next to any problematic devices. If you cannot find it, then your device may indeed be dead, so try a friend's computer installation to narrow the field.

This is quite an old firewire card model ans according to the model number you have posted the chip on this card supports only upto windows 2000 or before, so if you are trying to run it on XP, there are no inbuilt driver support, so i think maybe you need to purchase a newer firewire card. There are are no downloadable drivers for this card because cards of this type do not require drivers to be installed as they are built into windows, but in this case not XP.

I need to connect a Sony trv950 camcorder to Adobe cs4, it only accepts firewire to capture video. and the emachine only has usb ports

Hello,
You can buy a PCI card for firewire and put it inside your PC case in an empty PCI slot. They are pretty cheap. In Canada / USA you can get them for about $30 from your local computer store, best buy etc..
Here is a link to best buy USA: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Dynex%26%23153%3B+-+3-Port+FireWire/IEEE+1394+PCI+Card/6307392.p?id=1074787927900&skuId=6307392&st=firewire%20pci&cp=1&lp=1

Bought DX-ESATAP but does not come up on new 8 core Mac tower; reseated a couple times and tested via firewire with G-Drive and it works; esata does not... ideas? thanks...

If you are looking to add eSata ports to your Mac Pro, the Dynex card is not compatible. I recommend a simple SATA extender cable connected to a bracket. NewerTechnology offers such an option; I have used it myself, and it retails for a very affordable $20.

I can not transfer records from tape to pc for editing

I'd like to share my experience with u.

I have an outdated SONY HC-32 mini DV .At first,I had difficulties connecting my cam to my PC.After lots of fuss&buzz it turned out to be the faulty FireWire port at the docking station.Doesn't cost much to fix,but genuine parts (that darn port) was not available.it is then necessary to do some modifications to use compatible parts instead.

No,no,no.problem not completely solved,not yet.

I then could get connections. But it was totally unstable&unreliable. After another lots of fuss&buzz, this time it was the faulty FireWire card that I installed.Replacing with the new one (same kinda cheapo made-in-Chinese card, but different brand) the problem is now permanently gone.

Hope this helps.

Hello..my name is Cameron Griffith, Jacksonville Florida. My friend accidently plugged my firewire cable upside down the other day; as a result, I was forced to purchase a new one. I bought a DX-FC103...

usually this can be achieved by going into device manager and totally removing/uninstalling ALL Firewire, then reboot, without Firewire connected, after at desktop, do not plug in your Firewire device, Then install any drivers programs to do with Firewire, and then reboot NOW, plug in your Firewire device, it may ask for drivers again,if so point it to where they are, reboot at finish, next time at desktop you should be OK.

Lucy,
This camera doesn't have a USB port - you must use a firewire port.

Wireless mouse problem

Try this:
Normal 0 Try disconnecting the Mouse Receiver from the USB port and reinstall the CD software program. When the program asks you to connect the Mouse Receiver to the USB port, do so and it should work.
Hope this helps. Bud
