I have an Atlantis myself. There can be several problems. Did you check that the fill hoses in the back are not leaking? Are they tight? There are hoses inside the washer and a pump near the front. I replaced my pump last year and I,m getting ready to replace the thrust bearing assembly (spin issues). Does the washer leak with every load? make sure water is not splashing over the tub when filling. The front panel comes off if you can and leave off and watch to see where water is coming from.

The noise you are experiencing is the bearings of the machine going bad. I have a similar model Maytag and the seals and the bearings have been replaced twice since I have owned the washer. Maytag will normally suggest replacement of the washer since the repairs will cost more than half of what a new washer can be purchased for. It is a labor intensive job and requires for the washer to be almost completely disassembled to do the replacement needed. Sorry to say in time it will start to leak water.

alone will cost $80 or more and a special tool is needed to complete the repair. I do not recommend this as a DIY project.
