Red color on screen is warped on my LCD projector TV.

My hitachi 50UX58B was working fine, but suddenly the red image appears to be out of focus with the G and B. The red part of the image looks shrinked in the middle and going out of the screen towards the sides. G and B images are in place. I opened the back cover and saw that there is some oily fluid leaking from the middle lens (Blue one, but blue color is fine though). Where will i be able to fix this red color problem? What is gonna happen now cuz the fluid has leaked out?

I have a Hitachi 50 inch rear projection. Most of the time the picture is fine, but frequenly the red will shift to the right about one half to two inches. At times the red will create a herring bone pattern in the middle of the screen. Usually a light tap on the side of the cabinet will clear it up temporarily. Also I can turn the set off for a few seconds and turn it back on and often it will be OK again. Can you tell me what is happening and what I need to do?

Normally the oily fluid coming from a picture tube, is the coolant from the tube. It's very combustible and have been known to start a fire. You have two problems in this set. A leaking blue picture tube. A convergence circuit that needs repaired. Call a local servicer and see if they will give you an estimate over the phone. It's time to start looking for a new digital set. Good Luck.

Red doesn't seem to be working properly, but doesn't appear to be a bad projector.

The red CRT tube is failing. They are rated at 3000 hrs of operation. Check the red CRT face to see if there is a lot of dirt on it or has a discoloration on the inside of the coolant chamber. These tubes are scarce and expensive. You may want to consider a new TV.

I have a hitachi 46f500 and it looks 3d..it appears that only the red color is off.. creating a double image that is red..no clue what to do...this tv has no convergence section in the menu..help

You will need to realign the projectors inside of the t.v.

Projection has yellow tint

From your description, it sounds like a problem with the blue color. Green LCD=purple onscreen, Red=cyan(baby blue) onscreen, Blue LCD=yellow onscreen. It could be a lot of dust on the blue lcd panel, or worse, might be a burned polarizer filter behind the lcd panel due to excessive heat. If you can focus on the yellow and its tons of yellow specs, its dust. A burned filter however, must be replaced. A technician trained in projectors will have to do it. The filter material is glued to a thin glass panel and is replaced as a single filter. It's a very involved repair.

We are getting ghost images and the color is not correct

I have red concave lines going across the screen, plus wording appears double like a ghosting effect, this is ongoing from the time the tv is turned on until it is turned off. This started 3 days ago. Is it time for a new tv, its 9 or 10 yrs old now.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align

Only get red screen

Hello,

First of all Check Flash focus is working or not?(Flash focus should finish 1 full cycle)
If Flash focus not working you will have a error code in your screen.
If any error message or wont compelte full cycle you have problem with convergence amplifier IC
It could be one of your IC bad along with Couple of small Value resistor.
