When I try to turn on, the tv clicks, once in a while a small power sound. Nothing happens. After 1 minute it clicks and the power button starts flashing in sequences of 6. When the tv does come on, it works fine. Problem is becoming more persistant.

Thirst thing to try is take the batterys out of the remote and push all of the buttons to get any electric static for say 3 to 5 minutes if that don't work try to see if your remote signal works by using your iphone and take a few photos of the remote beam when pressing ,or the remote in the tv might have gone. Ps happened to me
Regrettably, 15 year old tv's eventually give up entirely. Sounds like your power supply is finally giving up. Typically these tv's are not economically repairable (most repair shops wont touch them because a new tv is cheaper. Be happy you milked this set for 15 years. Pawn up some of your other extraneous stuff an purchase a $200 flat screen.
I have the same problem. The only way to get the TV to come on is to unplug it, but once you get it back on it turns itself off again in a few minutes.
