Question about Canon PowerShot SD10 / IXUS I Digital Camera
I had the exact same error on my camera and found this bit of information: It sound like a problem with the zooming mechanism (lens would not retract or extended) Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix you problem. In any case it could not make it worse. I tried this on my camera and it is now fully functional.

Generally speaking, there is nothing you can do to correct the problem other than to send the camera to the appropriate factory service center for correction of the error. Following the repair cost you should decide, whether it worth it.

This happened to my Camera and I fixed it by turning it on and hitting the back of it hard and the lens retracted back into the camera.

This problem has occurred for second time since purchasing the camera.
The first time I took it back to the shop in Sydney city and was charged AU$350 to repair.
I have seen this error often since but one out of 10 times it will rectify.
Now for some months the zoom does not budge.
I am unable to pay $350 again and do love this camera so I took it upon myself to open very carefully and I think I have found the seemingly simple problem!
When the casing is removed and I very gently and with correct level of pressure on the BLUE PLASTIC contact below the lens the zoom responds every single time like new!
However when I carefully replace the casing, the problem returns.
I can see on the bottom right hand corner of this blue plastic a small screw hole, but as the casing is not fixed appropriately the hole would not take a screw. The blue plastic is fixed rigid and not possible to move.
It appears to be a fault. Would I be correct?
What can I do now? How to rectify and what steps to take.
PLEASE HELP!
