My phone fell out of my bag one day and hit the ground. It didn't fall very far, maybe about 1', but now the voice recording doesn't work. Recordings come out as just the initial beep and then silence following. Every other function seems to be working fine though. Is there any way to fix the sound recording? Help is much appreciated.
HI tHERE,
There's a flex cable on your screen that controls the voice recording. This needs to be replaced by a service tech. They could be brought on ebay fairly cheap. It's called the screen flex cable for v3 razr. Hope this helps.

Go to the GEAR drop down on far right side of screen. Then select SETTINGS. A new page opens, then select VOICEMAIL & TEXT tab
The record option is right there. If you have not linked the Google Voice number to a real phone yet, you do that on the PHONES tab.
Number 1 rule if your phone gets wet... DO NOT turn it on.
Remove the battery from the phone.
get a small ziploc freezer bag
place phone in bag
pour uncooked grains of rice into bag. Enough to cover phone completely.
Close bag.
Let it sit for at least 2 days.
This is to absorb all the moisture from the phone. Remove phone, insert battery and try using it. It may work. But you need to wait until your phone is completely dry before attempting to use it.
Get your iPod in a bag of rice, and keep it there for maybe a few days, it should **** out all the moisture, hopefully it wasn't on when it was dropped in, but give it a shot.
Open all the access doors and covers, take out the batteries, memory card (if it has one), and put all parts in a ziplock bag. Get some dessicant bags (from old shoe boxes) as many as you can find, cardboard pieces, or saltine crackers and put them in the ziplock bag also and put on top of your microwave oven (if used a lot) or in the window where it gets direct sunlight. These items will help draw out all the moisture. I have done this many times on cell phones, gameboys, etc. and it works everytime.
Your phone is water damaged. It may help to let it dry out further, but most likely it is beyond help. You could sell it for parts on eBay. People will buy water damaged phones on there too.
You need to replace the flex cable in the screen section of the phone...You need to get your phone to a good repair shop to get this done. It's a very tedious job. Must be only done by someone who knows what they are doing. The controls for the voice recording is controlled by one of the side buttons on this flex cable.
