Horizontal bar across to of screen after ps3 hookup
I tried to play a blue ray disc (not the first time) on my ps3 and when I switched to the right input mode, a small horizontal bar appeared which grew to cover the entire screen. This problem is not covered by the warranty (owners intructions manual) GRRRRRRR. Please help.

Re:
If the set is less than a year old and having a problem, then, it is covered under warranty.
Does it happen when watching something in analog?
Does it happen when watching something in High Definition?
I think the diagnosis would be helped with a picture of the problem.

The blueray eye is out. You will need a new blueray player. The only problem with that is the ps3 will only respond with the orginal parts it came with. ( i.e. motherboard blueray player ) So the best bet is to buy a broken blueray player and take the eye out and replace it with yours just the eye not the whole thing.
hold the power button down when it is red till you hear the quick beeps then select the file restore. this is a diagnostics screen...you may have to hold the power button in for several seconds....does your ps3 work on a non hidef tv?
it may be that your ps3 automaticly loads the disc and has already started to play it and it might be trying to change the resolution(happens to me all the time) try un pluging your lead then plug it back in
hope this helps
Try downloading the the newest update...or make sure the res isnt too high for the TV i had the same problem but found that the res was on 1080p which was too high...
Green bar or border is due to wrong AV Setting. To resolve this just insert the Blue-Ray DVD and begin to play. Press the Triangle button and select "AV Setting", in AV Setting change Video Output to RGB.
