Question about Durabrand DUR7 Portable DVD Player
To test the laser pick-up, push the lid swith down to simulate to unit it is closed. Turn unit on to see if the pick-up goes to the middle, tries to focus and the laser can be seen on the lens. If the laser is not present during this operation, bad pick-up. Replace entire unit due to replacement cost of pick-up vs new unit. If it is 70% cost of part vs the new unit, I would opt for a new one. If you are not familiar with a repair of this nature, please do not try. There are more adjustments than just a new pick-up.
