Many of the later model Sony TV?s have a built in self-diagnosis function. AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks 5 times for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. In other words, the IC chips on the Cboard are burned out. This repair is not one that should be attempted by the end user. This repair will need special test equipment. You will need to take it in for repair. It shouldn't cost more than $170-$200. This is cheaper than a new TV set.

Five red blinks in Sony LED TV KDL 40W900A.

5 red flashes is a bad panel connection or internal panel short, very carefully take the panel connectors off and reseat them and see if that helps, unfortunately you may have a bad panel.

I have a Sharp 70" (LC-70LE632U) LED TV. When you turn it on, the front led is on, but no screen. After a few seconds, the front led starts 5 short and 2 longer blink and continue this way constantly.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices

Blinking codes details of many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience. If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Counting of number of blinks to Philips TVs is entirely different to that of other brand TVs. It is not a direct count procedure. The site have details about how to count the number of LED blinks [Fault Codes] to Philips brand TVs are given; along with details of the faulty circuit location

SONY KV32-FQ70U BLINK ERROR

Try unplugging the TV for about 10 minutes and then tunung it on again. Try a factory

To reset the TV to factory settings
1
Turn the TV on.
2 Hold down on the remote control.
3 Press and release the POWER button on the TV front panel. The TV will turn itself off,
then back on.
4 Release .

I'm assuming step 2 means hold down the power button.

This particular unit has a built-in diagnostic. The LED in front will blink for a set number of times following the failure. The blink code is:

1 Flash Power+140
2 Flashes Low B+ D.C

Can you possible tell how many flashes there are following the instant shutdown?

Screen not appearing straight away

It could be your LCD backlight giving you problems till it warms up. Turn you computer on and while the monitor is displaying black and the power LED is green shine a flashlight in the lower left hand corner of your screen. Look for the ?Start? button, if your backlight is not working you?ll see a faint ?start? button if you look closely. A 15" LCD monitor is probably not an economically repairable problem unless you have access to really cheap parts and have the skills and tools to do the repair yourself.
