If you can, connect to an external monitor. If the external monitor works normally, there is a high possibility your screen is bad. If you don't have an external monitor, use HDMI and connect to your tv. Switch to the HDMI channel you connect to.

SOURCE: 'Input Format Not Supported' (please help me!)

OK try booting up in "Safe Mode" Press F8 just after Turn on, when and if ya boot into safe mode then adjust your Video settings to say 1024x768x32bit and then reboot, if all good then when you are at the desktop, then adjust the settings to whatever you require... maybe 1280x1024x32bit.. Ya all good. If this doesn't work.. try the Monitor on another PC.. see if it works... if it does.. then maybe ya Video card is going/gone "Toes up" if not, then ya got a fault in your monitor, usually some sort of Power Supply problem or the like.

SOURCE: monitor goes black

Sorry to have to tell you this, but this is common in LCD monitors. The reason that it is going black when it boots is for one of two reasons. You either have a bad power supply that powers your LCD or your LCD's backlight is blown. These can be repaired or you can purchase a new one. But if it goes black 9 times out of 10 is because the backlight is bad. These can be repaired!

Samsung LED TV has dark area on top

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement.

Disconnect the monitor from the computer, unplug and then replug it in. See if the entire screen lights, if only for a second. That will tell you whether it is the monitor itself that is bad, or the signal it gets from the computer. If the former, there is not much you can do but check the settings manually on the side or back of the monitor. If it is the latter, check the cable (s) and the plug connection. Check all pins on the connector. Do not know from your question, whether this is a vga, dvi or hdmi connection to computer. Good luck

this is called phase it can be set auto by the button or you can disconnect the power and next day reconnect and leave it in default which can be better than letting the monitor try to set the phase.
