Question about Canon PowerShot A70 Digital Camera

2 Answers

Won't Focus! My PowerShot A70, which we bought years back (in 2003), suddenly won't show any images on the display screen. It just shows grainy purple and pink lines. When you take a picture, what you get is the purple lines and not what the camrea was focused on. I don't know what happened but I miss my camera. Does anyone know how to fix this?

This is probably a CCD failure. I had the same problem and it was fixed for free. Go to the Canon website and you will find info on returning for free repair. Check out the following website: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SupportIndexAct

The display screen is blocked. The lens is open. Can see outline of blockage

If Canon A70 camera shows previously taken/ stored pictures properly in playback mode and does not show live view in LCD in camera mode to take fresh pictures then it is ccd imager chip failure problem and ccd imager chip will be replaced.
Canon offers free of cost repair for A70 for ccd imager failure problem. Click Canon CCD Imager Advisory for details.

Suddently my photos have too much purple and are grainy.

To start remove camera battery for one minute, this will reset settings to factory.

If pictures are all purple and shady , and this is not a setting problem , then it is usually a bad CCD sensor.

On many models (depending on year) CCD sensor repair will be entirely covered by Canon. Give them a call to check it out.

LCD screen not sharp / focusing when taking pictures

This camera is ancient by today's standards, at least 8 years old.

Your focus problem is that the back display is very low resolution, so it will never show a sharp image. 9MP should give a decent image when you view it on a computer. If not, you probably need to part with the camera. it is not worth much these days anyway.
