Washer My Maytag neptune washer mah8700a just keeps beeping when I try and start it. It flashes ds. I tried to put it in service mode like I read here. After I hit chime the second time it flashes 542 and still wont do anythig. Any suggestions as to what I need to do here? Thank you for your time. Tracie

If you haven't tried pull the 120VAC cord to the washer for ten seconds or so and then re-power up this will hard reset the control board. If that doesn't help and you want to continue to troubleshoot I will have you try to get into Service Mode.

Could you confirm if your machine is a FAV6800AW or FAV9800AW. That would help me with further troubleshooting. I'm an FAV6800AW owner.

I would pull the 120VAC power cord to the washer for 10 seconds then power back up.
See if you can get into service mode. To enter Service Mode press and hold he Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or until the control beeps and the display reads “00”. If you can’t get into Service Mode I feel you have a Control Board issue/failure.

If you can get into Service Mode then go to page 15 of the SM and we want to try a Quick Service Cycle test. Follow the instructions to enter the Quick Service Cycle test and let us know the results. If the test will run it will take about 10 minutes.

ds - means that the door is open while the washer is running sometimes this can be easily fixed by opening the door then closing it and pushing it pretty firm to make sure it latches.

If that doesnt work there very well could be a problem that would need to be fixed by a service repairman you can call Maytag USA Customer Service @ (800)688-9900

Maybe you over-loaded, or you did not shut the door properly. Try reading the users' manual.

It helps trying to actually weigh your dirty linen. Try to wash within what is mentioned in your manual. Also see that the door is closed firmly. Would be useful if you'd post back results.....

Joe, ds is a door lock malfunction. The door lock latch shows closed and the door switch shows open. Try this, unplug the unit for 60 seconds and see if the error comes back. If it does, with the power on press and hold the chime and xtra rinse pads together for 3 seconds. This will put it into the service mode. Once in the service mode press the chime button again to unlock and the temperature pad to lock. See if they operate. If still no luck you are going to have to do some tests on the door lock switch to see whats happening. You do have a 2 year warranty on these parts and being that it is only a year old, tell them to throw in the labor....Catriver...post back.
