Convergence problem or??

Watching tv yesterday, suddenly pic became three images and blue is way off kilter/ angled downward. Tried manual convergence and could move red, but not blue. Perfect focus would not go beyond 4% after several tries as well. Manual convergence screen displays the little plus marks being way off level at all edges of screen. Sounds like from postings that the convergence module is bad?? Also noticed recently that at at very infrequent times the color would go out of whack for a moment or two while showing a sort of light crosshatch on screen then return to normal. Board time??

Thanks, from what I read the convergence board is a problem child. The board and not the module is what typically fails I guesa based upon all of the postings.I have found the convergence board on partsolver for about 82.00 plus shipping. I work with electrical and electronic devices in my daily work, so should be able to make the swap myself. Any other tips I need to know? Thanks again for the speedy reply to my posting!

Thanks for the tips... I have ordered the part from Partstore.com and expect the new board in the next few days. I have found out about how to access the convergence screens using the mute button and number keys. I will let you know when I get ready to realign the screen upon board installation. Thanks again for the continued support - much appreciated!! Have a great day!

have bought a new convergence board for a Samsung PCL545R installed it

i can line up the blue convergence with no problem but the red does nothing at all. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I was watching the TV then all of a sudden the red jumped out of alignment. Despite countless attempts to execute "perfect focus" and attempt a manual convergence, the red is way out.

What's my best plan of attack?

    Thanks,

    Brad

I have ordered the new board, installed it, and tweaked however it's still not back to perfect. It's WAY better than before but it seems out of alignment between the cross hairs.

The top middle cross hair appears to be 'twisted' and I am unsure how to get it to ligh up properly. It seems I am very close but I am missing this last ingredient. Any ideas?

Hello, I am having a convergence problem I believe. The red is dipping down and out of alignment. When I attempt to realign the red it will not do it properly and usually just makes it worse. The other two *blue and green* seem to be find as the picture looks good across the middle of the screen because red is Barely off at the middle. Does this sound like a convergence board problem?

Tv out of foucs

These procedures are from the owners manual, go into menu and then picture quality and then: Convergence The Convergence feature lets you adjust the TV’s three tubes. When the TV tubes’ images are precisely aligned, they create the color images you see on the screen. Over time, the picture can drift out of alignment (this is normal). If your picture seems fuzzy or has a yellow tint, using Convergence could correct this misalignment. Only one convergence is needed for all inputs, regardless of the signal format. Note: Make sure the TV has been on for at least 30 minutes (TV needs to warm up for best results) before starting Auto Converge or Red/Blue Centering. When you select the Convergence feature, a submenu appears with three options: Auto Converge Automatically aligns the projection lenses to self-correct color images. You’ll see flashing squares of color dance across the screen (this is normal). Note: After performing auto convergence, use the Blue Centering and Red Centering menus to fine tune convergence in the center of the screen, if necessary. Blue Centering Aligns the blue and green images to fine-tune the picture. Red Centering Aligns the red and green images to fine-tune the picture. Note: The ability to change channels is disabled when adjusting the convergence options. The TV must be tuned to a usable signal to converge the picture.

Mitsubishi Rear Projection WS

5ebe434.jpg A projection television and a convergence control method thereof are provided. The projection television, which magnifies images displayed on cathode ray tubes (CRTs) for the colors red, green, and blue using lenses and projects the magnified images onto a screen, includes a convergence control apparatus capable of adjusting the convergence while an input image signal is displayed, the convergence control apparatus including: an image signal decoder which processes the input image signal to generate a data signal, horizontal and vertical synchronous signals, and a start signal indicating the start of either the horizontal or vertical synchronous signal; a convergence control unit which normally projects an image signal output from the image signal decoder onto the screen and performs convergence control using a predetermined region of the screen displaced from a visible region of the screen according to a convergence control command; and a main microcomputer which inputs the convergence control command to the convergence control unit when the start signal is input from the image signal decoder, stops the convergence control when a completion signal is input from the convergence control unit, and performs a control operation to continuously display the image signal during the convergence control.

Tv pic has redbluegreen images pic distorted

This is a convergence problem that can be as simple as poor solder connections at the convergence ICs or defective ICs. If you feel that you want to attempt the repair yourself, please update this with that indication and additional details and instructions will follow. The parts for this repair will run about $40-$60.

PHILIPS 60PW936317 - COLORS GOT DISTORTED AS I WAS WATCHING TV

Your convergence chips and convergence resistors are going bad. When they fail the screen colors will look distorted/3d looking.  Another symptom is one or more colors can't be converged using the convergence menu. You can purchase the parts over the internet. Just make sure you get Sanyo brand convergence chips and the correct flame proof resistors. You can also check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They are working on a complete kit for this model.

Tv looks fine when playing movies or Tv but looks all teac blue when using xbox360

Depending upon the signal, perhaps the convergence is off all the time, just not seen. If you can solder, try resoldering the convergence IC pins. Let me know if there is any change.

Akai 4298 projection tv

Most likely, this is a problem with the convergence board. The convergence amps (STK392-040 x 2)are internally shorted. These can be replaced or the whole convergence board can be replaced. It's cheaper to replace the amps, but more convienent to replace the board (especially for the less electronically inclined!! :) Hope this helps ...
