No I'm afraid there is no way to do this without the original remote. You can get an original replacement rempte HERE: http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=gmi&smodel=CXM1374&brand_pn=SAMSUNG_CXM1374&mode=large&uid=11826052948280

You can purchase a universal remote that works with all sets at any Walmart, Target, Sears, Best Buy, Big Lots, Radio Shak ect. They come with instructions on how to program the remote to work with your model television set. Universal remotes also control DVD players, VCR's, Cable TV ect.
I just did this on my tv same exact model, I used a universal remote, it was an rca remote but im not sure it makes a difference. I programmed the remote to this tv with the tv off and it worked. the programming directions say to turn the tv on but i couldnt. If and when u get the tv on if u are using a universal remote get the menu up. most likely the light will be flashing. take the battery out and put it right back in. the light should no longer be flashing, and the menu should still be up. u can now navigate to the preferences and turn off the fpa lock... good luck
You can re-tune manually or purchase a universal remote. I'd recommend any kind of harmony remote. If you buy a cheap one, nobody will guarantee that it's compatible... in other words, you'll be wasting money little by little. Save yourself the heartache and buy a harmony remote... cheapest is a 525 and they work brilliantly.
i cannot find the model # to my akai tv/dvd combo where is it? AND ALSO I DO NOT HAVE THE REMOTE TO IT LOST IT DURING MY MOVE. HOW CAN I PURCHASE I NEW REMOTE OR WHICE UNIVERSAL ONE SHOULD I BUY! PLEASE HELP
You need the original remote controller to be able to switch input modes.Universal ones usually don't work. If you don't have the original remote and can't find it ever or if it is too expensive you can buy an rf modulator ( very cheap) and connect your dvd player, game console etc) to the modulator then connect the modulator to your antenna with a coax cable. This worked for me. It placed the connection to channel 4 and other cable channels are still working,
You can buy the RF Modulator from: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180299245670
lost the remote?... try a different universal remote. i have a orion 27" but i think it has a menu button on the front of the set. im at work.. when i get home ill check and repost....if you dont want to buy another universal.. barrow a friends and give it a try... sometimes the manufacture puts updated CODE's for the remote on the website.. might check that as well. good luck.. more to come.
