Popup on monitor screen

I have a popup on my Samsung 712n screen almost all the time. Is is a small box with BRIGHTNESS 100 on it. The box is white with a light blue inner band and black outer bank with an orange line showing it is 100. I can't get rid of it. Sometimes it will blink off for a couple of seconds, then back it comes. Sometime it will stay in the middle of my screen. Any suggestions? Thanks Anna

The popup that has been coming up several times an hour is the auto adjustment window. I have the SyncMaster 731N and I have had the monitor for 8 months. In order to get rid of the popup, I have to reboot my computer.

I have the same problem as you are wit a SyncMaster 720N
    I am very disappointed
    about Samsung products.
I tried everything to solve this
    problem but nothing.
Probably it is the source of this device, because I can't turne it off.

The problem will come and go. I lived with it for a few months, sometimes the box would be gone for two weeks and then come back again. I decided to take a chance and sprayed the buttons with optical lense cleaner, which is mostly alcohol. It fixes it every time, but only temporarily. It could be a static issue that causes the buttons to think they are being pressed. The alcohol may work to knock the static charge off the contacts.

Try it, the monitor sucks, so what have you got to loose?

The problem for both of you (and I have the same problem with a 720n) is that a button thinks it is being pressed. For me the problem came after carrying the monitor in my car trunk, which may have damaged the button. I would conclude that Samsung SyncMasters have poorly made buttons.

SOLUTION! Samsung SyncMaster 720N problems with: Menu -1st button, MagicBright -2nd button, Brightness -3rd button, Auto Adjustment -5th. Remove the front panel. To solve the problem, you must replace the micro-switch relevant to your problem. For example, I had trouble with the brightness switch. The Brightness OSD menu, (switch nr.3) appeared on my screen and it wouldn't disappear no matter what. So I replaced the 3rd switch and thus solved my problem.

You can download the manual from this website: The popup screen is waiting for you to set it. I can't remember which button it is.

18 inch monitor; Brightness popup

I have the same problem with my Samsung SyncMaster 720n, the brightness window pops up without me touching it, and never dies down.

This delicate panel is affected by any decibel or temprature change (like humidity in my case), it can drive us all mad.

Here is a picture while I'm writing to you all:
I was thinking about using some WD-40 (penetrating oil) with the panel, but I'm not so sure it is the best solution.

Does anyone have a better solution?

Samsung SyncMaster 712n monitor will have small blue & white tiny checkers on the screen. will go away if i click the mouse. sometimes the entire screen has those tiny blue & white checkers.

Surely the monitor lets you change it's 'standby' settings so that it doesn't show that; or change your computer's power savings modes not to include standby?

Samsung 731N Auto Adjustment

I'm having the same problem. Started three days ago. Really annoying. First I downloaded a driver because that was reccommended over plug and play. But that did not fix the problem. I ended up pressing the menu key (1st on left) and while holding it down I wedged a little piece of paper to hold the key down and the popup menu's have stopped. The box can be the brightness/contrast or auto/image reset/color reset ...
it doesn't matter, they all popup after pressing buttons left and right. Have no answer to correct the problem but at least I can now compute without these stupid menus.

Birghtness 100 Popup

sounds like your "brightness" button may be stuck. try pushing it and see if it feels the same as the other buttons (should feel it "click" a bit). Also see if any of the other buttons work, because if it IS stuck, they probably won't work...

Popup on monitor screen

first try unplug set from AC plug for about 10 seconds for full system reset. If not see if firmware (software) on set could be updated to newer version software...could be a software issue..
