DS Lite bottom touchscreen seems "stuck"

Bottom touchscreen is very unresponsive to stylus inputs. A, B X Y buttons still work and games poer up OK but the touchscreen seems stuck with characters stuck moving to the upper right if left alone. Is there a touchscreen reset button? Can I easily replace the touchscreen? I've seen my daughter using the stylus pretty hard on the screen with guitar hero. Could she have irreparably damaged it?

Thanks.

I think you should either get a new ds or tap the touch screen hard. if tapping the touch sreen harder does not work then that means it is time for a new ds.

My grand daughter has a nintendo ds lite which has a scratched bottom screen which I think causes the stylus not to register properly If this is the case, how much would it cost to either repair or replace?

Hi, bottom touchscreens are extremely cheap to replace. They are around £4 on ebay and are quite easy to fit yourself too. There are a lot of good guides on the internet on how to fit the touchscreen. I have fitted many of these myself, the only thing you have to be careful of is that you do not damage the P6 touchscreen connector when taking the screen ribbon cable out.

I hope this helps and if you need any more assistance I would be glad to help.

Bottom touch screen of DS Lite unresponsive. Been working fine for over a year. Now out of guarantee period. What should I do?

Well, if you've touched the bottom of the screen with anything but the stylus, then that could be why it's unresponsive. I know that "the llama's adventures" has a DS screen repair kit, but it requires a bit of cash, time, and expertise.

None responsive DS lite screen

Hi,
It sounds like you need a replacement touch screen. They are reasonably simple to replace if you're confident with taking it apart, otherwise you'll need to pay for a repair. You can buy touchscreen on ebay fairly cheaply.

Ds lite screens dark

I think there is a button on the bottom left of the bottom touchscreen where when you turn on the system even if there is no picture you should be able to tap it and change the screens brightness just by pressing this button. Its in the very bottom left corner

Reseating Touch Screen Ribbon Cables

The cable for the touchscreen is one with 4 conductors that connect directly to the overlay on the face of the LCD. The flat ribbon connector on the main board is quite delicate. The three connectors for the bottom screen are on the right side of the component side of the DS phat board. The touchscreen is labeled P6. On the DS Lite, the connector is closer to the R button.

My touchscreen does no work and games don't play right

The touchscreen replacement isn't too bad if you've got some technical knowledge, about 1 hour and a lot of patience.
I'd get the new touchscreen from a popular web auction site and the replacement is quite straightforward but fiddly, if you can wait for the new touch screen to arrive in the post, have a tri-wing screwdriver and a lot of patience you might as well go for it. Just take great care when replacing the bottom case to line up the power switch (and volume control) with the external plastics so as not to cause any damage as a broken power switch isn't an easy replacement.

Cant play any game

Is this the top screen or the bottom screen? The top isn't meant to react to the stylus.

No connection

If the bottom screen was taken out then there would be a loosen or unplugged conductor, maybe only the touchscreen wire is out, you can open the system and plug it back to the jack. If the wire is broken then you need a new touchscreen (not the whole display, just the touch pad, like $9.99 + s&h).

Nintendo DS Lite

Are the batteries fully charged? when the first screen comes on when you first use the power switch and it says at the bottom to touch the screen. Just push the A button. If your DS still shuts off only when you touch the touch screen let us know.
