Convergence Problem inSamsung HC-P4752W 47" Rear Projection

I have a samsung projection TV model HC-P4752W. Three days ago it started displaying bad pictures. I noted that If wear blue filter glasses, the picture appears OK, however if I wear red filter glasses, the picture is highly distorted. One website recommended that this is convergence problem that can be fixed by either resprogramming convergence data in serviice mode or changing the STK 392-010 convergence control chips. I tride to reprogram the convergence data, the distorted red color does not respond vertically, although it responds horizonatally. The service manual diagrams show that the STK inputs are fused through 3.9ohms fusable resistors. I have checked all 12 fusbale resistors and they are OK. What are the possible problems and their possible solutions

changed the two STK392-010 ICs. The TV started working very well, but now it has developed another problem: it turns off itself. Whenever that happens, I have to unplug it from power and replug it again before the TV canm be turned on. Sometimes I have to wait for even 30 minutes or more before it accepts power. What is the problem? is it still related to the convergence? But it had been doing fine for the whole day since changing those ICs.

Over current still in an ic might trigger a shutdown...I would put my hand on both ics u changed and she if one or both are hot ...that means u missed still somthing a cap or resitor off value. bad caps alot of times puff at the top of metal can...inspect circuit board close on converence and Power suppy ....heat causes discoloration under hot parts..brown to black even. also it might be just another problem totallly in your switch mode power supply....there are sights ive seen on web that specificly might tell you the bad part...u go surf i forgot them. just plug in your model and make...u should find something. One of the convergence output IC's has burned out and needs to be replaced. If the IC opens up inside then it stops working without blowing any fuses or resistors. The IC should be replaced and the set realigned by someone with experience in convergence circuits.

I have never heard of a Samsung projection set shutting itself off because of a defective convergence circuit. Since the picture is normal just before the set shuts down, I believe that the convergence circuit has nothing to do with your current problem. Be sure to check all of the jacks and wires, since sometimes when you pull parts of the chassis out to change the convergence IC's, they may work themselves loose.

There are three main reasons that convergence can still be inoperable after replacing the convergence amps. One, when the amps failed they blew the fuses protecting the power supply from shorts. Two, when the amps failed the yoke return biasing resistors burned open. And Three the Digital Convergence Unit has failed. Once things have gotten to this point it is usually time to have a professional have a look at the set.

I think you have a fault on the chroma board and on the picture frame board. If you can trace it yourself try these two locations otherwise call out a competant technician. hope this helps.
