Software hangs I have been running Silversoft (which comes with Plustek 7200i) for at least 2 weeks with on problems. Then suddenly, the prescan window locked up with a "Window has experienced a problem and needs to shut down" type pf dialogue box. I promptly shut down (but not sending the message as I do not have internet at home) and reboot (cold boot)but the same dialogue box comes up everytime with the last locked up prescan picture whenever I tried to access Silversoft. I have uninstalled, then reinstalled silversoft, the plustek drivers and all the software that came with it but the problem persists. My operating system is Window XP Home Media (Mind you, the "Quick Scan" does work ok, Silverfast is the only problem.) Can anyone help please !

It is quite possible that there is another piece of software that is clashing with your Plustek OpticFilm scanner. It is hard to tell which software is having a clash. If you remove that software from your system you will obtain the desired results. I suspect the SP3 of Windows XP may be responsible for this because Microsoft has indicated that Windows XP SP3 is not for everyone. If you install Windows XP SP2 uninstalling XP SP3 your problem can definitely be rectified.

Alternately, you can download the installation software/driver free of cost from the manufacturer's download website by clicking this link

On the page which opens, enter OpticFilm 7200i in the Serach box under "Option 1: Search By Product Name" and click the Search button (See attached image)

Then select OpticFilm 7200i from the results window. Download the driver in .zip format from the list which opens. After the download completes, extract the .zip file to open the driver file.

No drivers for Plustek Film Scanner

You may have to uninstall the old software and then go ahead and download the software again. It has the windows 7 drivers in there then install it by running the setup file. You can also go into the device manager and right click on the device in there and manually update the drivers in there by telling it the folder that the drivers are located in.

Need AC Power Supply Adapter for Plustek OpticFilm 7200 Scanner

I revisited the Plustek website and found a page where I could send an email to customer service describing my problem. About 24 hours later I received a reply which included an attached order form with the price and the appropriate shipping and tax filled out for the item I needed. The order form instructs one to fill out your particulars and fax the form to Plustek. I have no fax capability so, after a phone call, I was instructed to send the form as an attachment to an email to the customer rep. I received confirmation of my order so, I presume that my order is in the pipeline.

Problems with installing a plustek 7200i film scanner

Delete the software. restart computer Come off line. Disable the anti virus software and fire wall. Now reinstall the software. Check out that is runs before reinstating A/V and firewall.
