If you can see flickiring light on the modem especially the power light...it means something wrong with the modem itself...try bypassing the surge protector and plug in directly to the outlet and also try resetting the modem for 30seconds...if same results....modem is deffective

just as a guess try unplugging power to both modem and router, then plug only modem in first until connection light stops blinking and goes solid. then plug in router.
When the DSL light turns red it indicates that the modem has no internet signal. So please check if the cables are connected properly Also ensure that there is a proper signal to your premises without any interference This is called intermittent connection If the DSL light turns red it indicates that there is a problem with the cables connected or the DSL line Please check your DSL connection with ISP
There is on another reason that the modem might have gone bad. If all the above steps are executed and if this issue still persists replace the modem
It sounds like you have a bad modem. Have you tried to plug the device into a different power outlet? This will rule out that it's a possible power issue in the outlet.
If no change by trying a different outlet I would replace modem.
try and restore your computer by clicking on start all programs, accessories, system tools then system restore, restore it back for a few days or a week even try that
Unfortunately it sounds like the modem may need to be replaced. I had the same issue. Even after doing a complete shutdown, resetting all the cables, restarting the modem and then the computer, it still did not work. After you get the modem replaced, I would suggest you get a spare, possibably from e-bay, so if this happens again, you will not be without DSL Service.
