I took apart the unit & didn't see the lithium battery. I saw this long tube like thing that was next to the speakers on both ends. I thought that Lithium batteries were metal, however I can't seem to find it in the unit or see anything that says battery on It. The unit was working for me when I went out to the store & after I got back into my car It didn't work
Does anyone have a picture of what this battery is supposed to look like? This May will be 2 years since i bought it & i have no service plan on it. I thought that electronics were supposed to last longer then this. I hope that this is a simple solution
Thank you
Mark

I installed a new SD card, used the software that shows map of north america, clicked on required provinces and directed the program to installed on the SD card and it now works again.

Hello!
Place your thumb nail in the groove located under the Garmin logo on the bezel.
Gently pull off the faceplate.
Press the reset button.
If it still asks for a code and you don't have it, it should ask you to drive to a secret location to unlock the device. If you don't know the location, the only other option you have is to send the unit to Garmin to be unlocked. You can also try to call Garmin with the serial number and see if they can do something less annoying to unlock it.

The unit can be opened by removing the frame around the screen. However if you are still under warranty you will void it. The battery is not an easily replaceable one since it is soldered into the unit but if you are hany with a soldering iron it is fairly straightforward. However you have to find the correct battery which you can do with an online search.
