Do you have the usb cable for the camera? If you do, then go into the menu using the 4-way controller go to the setting menu. Under usb connection select PC. Then you can back out of the menu. Turn your camera off, connect the usb cable, then turn the camera on. Let me know if you need more help.

I do not have a Pentax Cd-Rom SW-SW58 to install on my PC.

You don't need any special software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

My computer does'nt have a dvd rom.Can I get one off the internet by downloading for free?

That is a "Hardware" item it's not "Software".
so purchase a dvd-rom from a local computer shop they should also offer to fit it for you and supply some software for you too.

Hardware = Keyboard, Mouse, Rom Drives, Ect....
Software = XP/Vista, Internet Explorer, Solitair, Ect....

Can't run a CD-ROM. Getting error 1005 on .x32 files. The CD won't even read. Do I need to download some drivers?

1. Make sure the CD-ROM is clean & does not have scratches.
2. Try cleaning the lens of your CD-ROM drive using a lens cleaning kit.
3. Try reading the CD-ROM on another CD-ROM drive.

Canon MP500 all in one printer is not compatible with Windows Vista. Is there a solution for this problem, or do I need to buy a different printer?

My Canon PIXMA MP500, purchased in mid-2006, came with the (then) ScanSoft OmniPage SE2 software on a CD. The PC had WinXP Installed. I had no use for the ScanSoft it so I made no effort to install it.
Fast Forward:
Two PC crashes later, July 2009. Using Win Vista Home Premium
LOST, important WinWord document file, only a hard copy available.
I tried to recover, scanning the "Xerox" copy. The SE Version of OmniPage was very complicated but I succeeded in producing a replacement *.doc file.

It appears that newer editions of WinVista contain the right printer drivers for this Canon Model.
