Vcr is displaying error E4 and when I eject the tapes, the casset makes it out, but is stuck because the tape is still wrapped up inside. Is this fixable?
Yes with care. Simply remove the cover and with care unwrap the tape. If you must break the tape - but make sure all residual tape is cleanly removed. Re assemble and put a tape head cleaner through- following the instructions.

Can you operate the machine with the cover off?
Then you will see what is/not happening
they don't make VCR's any more - so new spares are going to be problematic
It is possible that small parts are common
So look around for something that has been junked to cannibalize.
Most like however the capstan does not spin because the belt has broken
Now belts should be about, cab can be made from another belt cut to size and joined with Super Glue

I got the tape out in one piece, and I tried to run the head cleaner through. It won't even play a tape. The tapes aren't getting wrapped up, they are just not winding back up when I eject it. Is one of the wheels not spinning??
I believe I found the issue. The capstan motor is not even engaging. Do you know where I can find another one of these for this model?
It turns out that it was the capstan motor. I found one for my model available online for $60. That will not do..
However, I found someone nearby selling my exact model on craig's list. His had an issue with the tension roller. I replace my capstan motor with his, and now it works perfectly. The belt is in perfect condition.
Thanks anyway.
Used Sony 8 hour tape which is possibly slightly thinner and it got eaten up inside the fast rewind and is still stuck in there. I got the cassette out but the tape is hanging out the front on both sides. Any chance I can remove the tape and save.
