WMP11: There are no files on this device.

Regardless of whether or not I am in rhapsody of playsforsure mode, when I connect my player to wmp11 it comes up with this message: "There are no files on this device. To begin, sync files to the device" when I try to view files I have already added to the player. I can add new files and playlists without a problem but I cannot view the files within wmp afterwards, only using explorer. Why?!

  • seegmiller_5 Feb 09, 2009

I don't change the USB mode and still have the same problem. So that is not a solution. Any other ideas?

  • seegmiller_5 May 11, 2010

The USB mode has nothing to do with this problem. I haven't changed the mode and I still get the same error. I have also changed the USB mode and got the same message. You only see the files you transfered the paticular mode you transfered them in, right? If you are always in music mode then why would I get the error? So please offer other assistance.

This player IS designed to work with WMP. On your Sansa, go to Settings > USB Mode and switch to MTP. Now you should be able to see all of your files on your player.

I can't find a download site for drivers.

Hello,

The player should be detected in Windows Media Player 11 automatically. If not, look in WMP11 under Sync in the page top if you can manage to get the device recognized manually. An update of the operating system and WMP11 maybe required to get the function to work.

After download and installation, run Coby Media Manager: select Tools > Device Manager...: select MP-705 from the list: click Add : click OK to have the MP-705 as your operating device.

Sansa Clip 2GB...WMP11 will recognize, but will not list in device pane in Sync mode...

Hah, figured it out! Had to roll back my version of WMP, which can simply be done by (in XP) going to Start > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs, and then click on WMP11 in the program list. Click remove, and it will ask if you want to roll back to the previous version of Windows. Click yes, and it will roll it back to the previous version of WMP11. Now, assuming you have an active internet connection, after you restart your computer, it will ask if you want to update your WMP. Click yes, and it will re-install the version you started out with, replacing drivers, .dlls, and anything you were missing before hand. Long story short, the solution was patching the holes in the program. I can now plug my Sansa Clip 2GB into the USB port, and WMP will recognize it right away (I can almost hear a small voice from inside my computer saying "would you like tea with that, mr. guy?" hah). I also found out you can have more than one media player connected at the same time! How cool is that? Great if you're trying to set up multiple players with the same playlists (promotional type stuff, business type stuff, etc.).

Doesnt detect in MTP mode

I had this type of problem, excluding Rhapsody, but when the computer was updated, everything fixed. Sorry I couldn't help more. I think we updated Windows Media Player, but I think ours was 10, not 11. Try running auto update.
