Maytag MED5700TQ Electric Dryer lost all power

The dryer ran several loads just perfectly today. At the end of one load, the power stopped and the dryer just won't work. No timer, no light, nothing. Breaker is fine, nothing tripped. Is this a problem with the dryer or more likely with the power outlet? Dryer is only 4 years old.

Shan -Yes I still have the manual, unfortunately the troubleshooting did not help much. I think I need to call an electrician to check the outlet. If that is not it, then clearly something on the dryer blew. I understand there is no fuse on this dryer, can someone confirm please?

SOURCE: Maytag Atlantis Electric Dryer

Fly, sounds like you blew the thermal fuse. This is located on the front blower. You will need to remove door by removing the two screws and lifting up on the hinge. Remove the 2 spacers on the other side of the door. Now the panel will pull out and the blower will be exposed. The fuse will look like the one on the right of the attached picture....Catriver..post back.

SOURCE: Flashing "touchup" and dryer won't start

What I did was unplug it for 1 min., plug it back in. Push the "off" button once, then push the off button again and hold it for 10 seconds. This is supposed to reset the computer. It worked for me.

SOURCE: Maytag Dryer model number PYE2300AYW will not start.

check your fuses in the dryer their is only one fuse that could shut down the whole dryer like that. Open back panel and get a volt meter and check for continuity on the fuses. HOW? first un plug it then open back then you will see the heating element their are 2 fuses on the heating element take off wires and check those. Then if those are ok look down thier is another fuses its long white with 2 wires comming out of it with a black center that should be your problem check it repair it run it . GOOD LUCK

SOURCE: ''AF'' error on Maytag Bravos dryer

"AF" means "Air Flow". Your vents are cloged with lint. I have had to vaccum out my vents several times, both inside and out. It's been a bit of a pain.

SOURCE: MAYTAG PERFORMA ELECTRIC DRYER WONT START

Same thing as other owners above...Dryer is five years old and is in need of a good cleaning of lint build-up. Model no. PYET444AZW.
I put a large load of clothes, which probably should have been spun again, into the dryer. When I returned the clothes were still basically wet, and the light in the dryer would not come on, and nor would the dryer start.
Tested the circuit breaker. OK. Tested the outlet with a tester pen. OK.
So in searching the internet for a solution, I found and read this string. Found the fuse, called my local appliance parts store and bought a thermal fuse kit for CDN$48 (incl sales tax). Kit came with three fuses.
Just opening the top of the dryer was a chore for a complete novice. However, the entire top is hinged at the back -- so at the front of the machine, just gently poked a slot screwdriver in the gap ringing the sides near the top, twist screwdriver and lift. Big fuse is easily accessible at the top near the back of the drum. It's a round thing about the size of a quarter screwed into a metal frame with two crimped-on wires coming out the top. One screw to removed the frame. Then detached the crimped-on wires, and removed the fuse from the frame with two more screws. You will need a smaller size ratchet or nut-driver.
While you have it apart you might as well change the second nickel-size fuse, too, although it is more of a pain.
You have to remove the coiled elements, which are basically just big springs. They come out with one screw on the right and a little finesse. The second fuse sits on the right-hand side of the metal box surrounding the coiled element. The screw for the coil also held the frame for the fuse in place, but the frame will still be secured to the box with a couple of small tongues. So you will still need to kind of lift and pull up on the frame housing the fuse. It requires some patience and finesse. Remove the crimped-on wires, and change the fuse.
Of the two smaller replacement fuses that came with the kit, there was one marked for a gas dryer and another for electric. (The big fuse was good for both.)
Then start putting it all back together. Took me two hours in all. But now that I have done it once, it would hopefully take me only 30 mins. now.
Finally, my replacement instructions suggested cleaning out your machine and removing the lint and other burdens which probably overloaded the fuse in the first place. So I bought one of those specialized lint brushes to clean out the trap and the exhaust hose and vent.

Maytag MED5700TQ occasionally completely shuts down during cool down mode

Sure!
You may have a bad timer, that is turning off the electricity to the motor while the heater is still energized.

Long time ago, dryers had about 3 "automatic shut-off's" two on the heating element, and one on the motor.
Because of the lint that comes with drying clothes, fire is always a danger.
Today, the "thermostat shut-off's" are up to 5, 6, or 7 on some models!
Sounds like your dryer is getting hot enough to trip one of these. When the whole machine cools down, the thermostat resets, and the machine starts again.'
I had a dryer do the same thing. The problem with that one was nothing more than dust and lint in the motor, and all I had to do was vacuum out or blow out the motor about once or twice a year.
Be blessed

How do you test the door switch on Maytag MED5700TQ

Take a meter that can check continuity, pop the top on the dryer and look down at the door switch. unplug the wires that go to the switch and put a meter lead on each one and with the door closed it should show continuity, if not the switch is bad but honestly I think pt# 7 on the diagram listed below is the problem.

I have power at the plug, but the electric dryer will not turn on. Is there a fuse in this unit to stop the power, this is a maytag med5700tq

Good day,
No fuse, sorry.
Make sure there is 230 volts at the dryer. (careful, 230 kills).
If so unplug the machine
1. The door switch is bad, you will need a vom meter to test it for continuity. Power goes to the door switch first.
2. Push to start switch, if your model has a separate one. if not...
3. Possible bad timer contacts not sending power to the motor.
4.Open circuit in the motor.

Your door safety switch is probably shot, on a safety item such as this your local Maytag dealer should take care of this free of charge.

My maytag electric dryer all of a sudden stopped heating up spinning. the timer moves and the light is on inside though.

sounds like youve lost one leg of power to the unit, the element uses 240 volts and the motor and timer are connected one on each 120 volt leg to balance out the electrical load chk your input power for 240volts first
