I hope you have warranty. your xbox is overheating and well, that is that. if you have a warranty then you can send it in and get a new one. If you don't I believe it is about $150 or a bit less and you can send it in a get a new one. One odd trick that I have learned about is wrapping the unit in a towel and allowing it to overheat. This will eventually will put out the overheating and it will work just as new. just remember when not in use, take out the plug.

That could be cooling problem of xbox 360. Check xbox360.com and what those lights suggest, thats some error mark im not sure but it also could be xbox360 cooler problem. Check website and you will know what to do next.
3 red lights on the Xbox 360 is the most common error and it means "General Hardware failure. To fix this you need to stop the amount of heat that the GPU and the CPU is taking.
To do this you can use the recommended guide that has been on the market for 3 years or you can send it in.
If it freezes and then the next time you turn it on has red lights on the console display check out the corresponding Microsoft articles for the number of red rings on the display. They appear in quadrants on it. 1 red ring 2 red rings 3 red rings 4 red rings
If you do not have any rings, your console may just be overheating. Give it a while to cool down and if that doesn't work, give Microsoft a call: 1-800-4MYXBOX. Good Luck!
Hi carla 0166,
Its not good news im afraid, that red light that flashes on the console is also known as the "ring of death".if one segment is red its not too bad but if its any more it wont work.
To get around this as daft as it sounds you need to overheat the xbox 360.
i know this as it has happened to me also.
simply switch the x box 360 on and then wrap a towel around it and leave for 30mins.
this will overheat the console and when switched back the red light should be gone.
Sounds like there is something wrong with the Xbox 360 power supply,
try unplugging the Xbox 360 power supply from the console and unplug
the power cord from the wall outlet also unplug the Xbox 360 power
supply from the power cord. Give it a minute then reconnect it all
back, also try it on another wall outlet without any extension cord at
all.
If it's still red that suggests fault with your
Xbox 360 power supply so will need to contact Xbox 360 customer support if its under warranty they should be able to sort it out for you. If out of warranty it might cost you for a new power supply!
if you have 3 red rings on the power button aswell then you have to send it back to micosoft xbox360 .they will fix it for free.all xbox360 have a 3 year warrant.that what happen to mine and a have had mine for over a year too.
Heres what you do: Its only 3 months old, call 1800-4my-xbox they can replace it. Don't tell your girlfriend broke it, tell them the red lights started one day.
They wil lship yuo box, you put eh box inside the box they give you, you ship it back to them, they ship you a brand spankin new 360.
