Question about Maytag MSD2434GE Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Maytag side by side model GS24C8C3EV Refrigerator too warm

Hi The refigerator keeps warming up to over 12oC, every few weeks. When I say warms up, the top of the fridge warms up, but the bottom of it goes cold enough to freeze strawberries in the fruit box.If I defrost the whole fridge and freezer, it works fine for about 2-3 weeks and then the fridge goes up to 12o C, and after this happens the motor runs permenantly. Thermostat controls work OK at first, but make no diference after the fridge warms up. Freezer initially is working OK (although the coils eventually freeze up). I think the defrost is still working, as the motor switches off about 12hrly, and a ticking noise comes from it. Help!

    Hi

Thanks for that, but I'm not sure if that's it.

The freezer seems to work OK, and temp is constant in the freezer. There has been no ice build-up in the freezer that I can see, unless it's left for weeks and weeks with fridge warm (as happened a few times when I went into "ostrich" mode).

    What's an open circuit element?

Much thanks for yout time :)

It is almost certainly a defrost problem. when fault has occured, remove freezer bzck panel and see if there is ice build-up. if so this confirms a defrost problem - possibly that the element is open circuit

Fridge warm, freezer fridge temp

The adaptive derost control has gone bad a very common issue. It will work a couple of weeks before its back to its frosting over. It just plugs in but to get to it you must remove the controls at top of frigde section in the back right corner held in by two scewrs.

Maytag MSD2356 Freezer frosts up quickly, fridge warm

If you jumped the defrost board and it went into defrost then that board is bad. I assume by "freezes up" you are talking about the evaporator is frosting up? That defrost board puts it into defrost automatically. If you have to jump it to get it go into defrost then the board is not doing its job.
