That denotes some sort of hardware error... there should also be an error o the screen when you boot up the Xbox...

Well most xbox units in the US will have a code with the xbox error report, you need that code when calling microsoft customer support at 18004myxbox. If it goes to a black screen and gives an error code here is a list of known codes.

If the xbox is telling you something is wrong via the rings of death just make note of what the colors were and where they were.

This problem is fixable, I had similiar problem with my clients XBOX360 console ( I run an electronic repair shop) and get customers frequently with this Error. I was able to fix couple of consoles with the help from this XBOX360 Repair Guide

Error 5 states that there is a problem with the drive and not the library, either the tape path or read/write head. Replaced drive - works fine
