I have a netopia cayman 3300 dsl modem connected to a wpn824 netgear router. firtly I could not connect to the internet from a wired connection from the ethernet port of the dsl moden to the internet port of the router. this issue was resolved by connecting the cable from the modem to one of the ethernet ports on the router and another cable from the router to the pc.
Now I have setup a wireless connection which communicates a signal with the pc but fails to access the internet.the wep key which I set on the router was 01234abcde and was also set on the pc's wireless card (which is a dell pci card).
Please help in trying to shed some light on this matter

Re: wpn 824 wireless issues.
If you have set up the wireless connection and enable it in the router, i assume you have disconnected the wired RJ45 cable to the pc, if not do so, as the pc's ip address is still being sent to the wired adapter and needs to be giving the wireless adapter an ip address itself as you cannot have two.
Either remove cable or dissable the wired network card and ensure you enabled DHCP in the router settings to automatically give the pc an ip address, ensuring that thw wireless card is also set to obtain an ip address automatically in the TCP/IP properties of the wireless network adapter.

You are trying to set up the wireless router with the comcast modem, right ? You can set up the router manually , without the disc. Make sure that your computer is able to go online when connected to the comcast modem only. If you have the router working already then you just need to add a computer to the network. Sounds link you need to setup PPPoE on your router. Not knowing who your ISP is, Netgear has this website that lists a lot of ISPs support on setting PPPoE up. that is located here: Netgear
If you can't find the info there, basically what you need to do is on your router, typically the main page, you might see an area that lists: DHCP, Static, PPPoE (or something similar). What you need to do, is select the PPPoE option and put your ISP login information (that is on your DSL modem now) there should be a connect or login button once your finished. Once that is done, your router does the logging in, instead of the modem.
DSL uses PPOE, which may be different than what you had previously. Cable, for example, uses TCP/IP. Re-set the router to defaults, and follow the instructions for PPOE, which should be in your manual or setup disk. Your ISP may have this info on their site, or you can get it at the Netgear site: www.netgear.com
