Olympus fe-170 lcd display faints to bright white in seconds

This fe-170 digital camera starts up ok but its lcd display turns bright white in seconds while all other functions keep on working ok
is this a symptom of a faulty lcd or not?
help appreciated

    I have the exact same problem. Everything works fine, but screen is bright white and remains that way.

    My camera does the same thing and Olympus told me that it was because I DAMAGED it and my warranty was void... I got this camera for Christmas and have never dropped or damaged it

You can replace the LCD screen for about 20 bucks.

Broken Lcd panel
Broken LCD screen is quite easy to replace on the FE-170 and FE-210. I have purchased cameras with bad lens but good LCDs on ebay pretty cheaply( compared to having Olympus repair camera).
