The last comment is true, however there is a simple but lengthy procedure that usually works to restore warped records. Records are often warped because they have been incorrectly stored, for example piled one on top of the other for long periods. Part of my own collection suffered like this after a box of them in the loft broke and they spilled out on top of each other without my knowledge. To fix them they should be packed verticaly with pressure at both ends so that the individual albums or singles cannot lean to one side. The amount of time this method takes will vary with both the temperature and the degree of warping. Minor warping and stored at room temperature should take about six months.

One side of my vinyl record will play fine but the other side won't spin right and the needle gets stuck on the record

The only thing you can do is clean the record with cleaning fluid. You will find special cleaning fluids for records on Amazon. If the record is warped you can try a weight pressing down on the record. But sadly if a record is warped bad there's no real cure.

Dvd won't play

1) there can be many possibles failures
2) switch and sensor defective or dirty, clean it
3) use the dvd disck clean
4) try it and see if working.
5) if the problem persist, the problem will be power supply, servomechanism, microcontroller defective, you must go to repair shop tv FOR fix it.

Philips DCB146 NO SOUND!!

The answer is straightforward. The main power amp has gone. If you are lucky it's a single IC unit which you will find on a big heat sink. It might look like the one shown below.
You will of course need to de-solder it and resolder a new one. The type needed to replace it will be shown by the letters and number on the IC itself.

One channel won't play

With it connected to the amp remove the wires to the cartridge. With the amp on touch each wire with your finger one at a time. On one wire you should hear a loud buzz on the left. On other wire the right. The two other might produce a minor buzz or nothing at all, so ignore them. If you hear the buzz on both channels there's something wrong with the cartridge or the connection to it.

If you don't hear the buzz. Then (1) there's a bad connection between the deck and amp (phono plug or wire). (2) failed pre-amp inside the record deck itself. (3) failed pre-amp in the main amp. (this would not affect any other settings in the amp so tape decks will play normal etc).

My arm on my JVC L-A11 won't lft when it should at the end of the record and won't go back to the seat without hitting it and returning to the record. I played with the screws on the pivot by

Hey, I had the same issue. The tonearm returns and then is pulled off the stand back towards the record, instead of settling on the stand.

The problem is that a bit of spunge on the lever pushing the tonearm black has decayed and turned sticky, pulling the arm back slightly when the mechanism resets after returning the tonearm.

Do yourself a favor and get the service manual from vinylengine.

Remove the platter & lock the tonearm in place.
Now, flip the turntable over and open it up. Locate the return lever with the sticky black piece of spunge and either replace it or tape it over with a loop of electrical tape and that should fix your problem.

If you played with the screws on the tonearm pivot on the outside, can't help you there..

Need to recover data from DirecTV R15 DVR receiver hard drive

First, sorry for the delay in respoding to your post. I did notice that you had a prior question about the Power Supply on an R15 DVR. Does the unit have a manufacture code of 500(found on the right hand front Flip Door of the DVR)? If so, I might be able to help you in repairing the Power Supply. As far as I know, getting your DVR up and running again is the only way to watch your previously recorded programs. As far as retreiving programs from your old Hard Drive via other methods, I probably won't be able to help you there. When I had both of my identical DVR 15 500's apart for a parts swap to diagnos a failed Phototransistor(infra-red sensor for the remote control), I also tried to swap out the Hard Drives. This is what I found: When you swap a Hard Drive into another DVR, it won't play any of the programs previously recorded. However, if you record new programs on the swapped Hard Drive then they will be playable on this current setup. Now, if you swap the Hard Drive back to the original DVR it came out of, the programs will once again be accessible except for any that you might have recorded while the Hard Drive was in the other DVR. So, in conclusion, when programs are recorded on a particular DVR, it is encoded electronically to play back only in that DVR via communication from the Motherboard and the Hard Drive. I know, it sucks, but that is why I was asking if you are pretty sure the Power Supply is at fault. If so, I received info from this forum on how to fix the issue. Also, if the attempt fails, Ebay has some previously owned DVR's for sale and maybe you can get one for spare parts. Remember, the Power Board and Front Display Control Panel are the only interchangeable parts IF you want to view the programs on your DVR's Hard Drive. Let me know what your DVR does when you plug it in. That will go far in further diagnostics of your DVR.

Bose 321 II dvd drawer won't open, fixes here & elsewhere not working. I put in a recorded dvd. It tried to read it, & never gave me the not supported msg as I started trying to eject it...

Hi Donna,

Please do be frustated.

Your lovely Bose has problem with its mechanism that cause load / unload totally out of order. If you hear some noise while you turn on the bose or when you hit some buttons, it is telling us the motor still work. Now we need to check the broken gears ( or other mechanism linkage).
If you able assemble this Bose, go ahead to find and fix it mehanism ( you may need some parts replacement.

Note : Be carefully with its laser lens while power on ( avoid direct contact to your eyes).

Best luck,

Jay

Power light and inconsistent speed

Ya, it does sound like a power issue. Unfortunately, for the cost of this model, it might not be worth getting repaired, although I am a big fan of recycling (let's reduce our waste!). As a service tech, I am forced to tell you that the cost of the repair will be around the $80 range, near the cost of this unit. Also, Numark does not provide much support for this unit. Parts are very hard to obtain from them, wait time is anywhere from 8-12 weeks. So, it's a matter of deciding what you want to do. Here are your options: 1) Spend the $80 or so (might be cheaper in your area - i'm in NYC) to get it fixed 2) Sell it to someone, tell them of the problem. Or better yet, give it to someone, and the cost of repairing the unit will be enough for them to have bought the unit. 3) Turn in to an elaborate paper weight! But please don't just toss it out. If anything, please drop it off at a plastic recycling plant. Lots of plastic in this thing!
