Camera was working fine. Son was in Italy. Went to vatican. Went thru the xray machine - now camera states high camera temp and will not even come on. Was working fine before....Any help would be appreciative...camera is 2 years old....
X Ray machine would not harm the device. What Hi temp means I do not know- discuss it with the Kodak Support site.

I restate - X-Ray machines do not affect photographic kit film or digital.
Must be some other cause and I am not even aware cameras have such a reading in the systems as to give an indication of 'Hi Temp'
I wonder if you are reading this aright?
Check the manual to see if it is something mentioned therein - bare in mind also that a more comprehensive manual exists usually on the software disk.
But you are correct expensive repairs are a no no,better spend the money of current[better specified] items
If you work for Kodak you perhaps have'internal' ways and means of getting things looked at, perhaps cheaper than usual.
I cant take you any further, than suggesting you get it looked at or replaced.
Cameras like toaster/kettles/media players are largely regarded as disposable- simply because of the way they are manufactured.
How ever there is sometimes a known problem -for example a batch of failing CCD's- that will warrant a free replacement.
So send it it in - if they quote a daft price - dump it and get a replacement -
At staff discount perchance?
this worked for me: just hit the bottom hard with your palm and the top and sides, not the front or back. After 3 hits, the date screen came back on and it was fixed. This was after the other two solutions I found on this site failed, namely pushing the shutter down before the message comes on or blowing into the camera slot with the memory card removed.

All I know is was working before sending camera thru x-ray machine. Tech support want 100.00 just to look at it. might end up costing me 200.00 to get fixed. Camera is 2 years old. Will reinvest my money to a better camera before I will do that.
It is reading high temp error. Even put it on the dock-if it is a battery problem should come on. Still reads high temp error. Tech Support will not help. All they say is need to send it in. Did I mention that I work for Kodak......
