I have a new Dell Inspiron560 computer which will not accept my Lexmark X75 printer

Access the manufacturer's web-site: http://support.lexmark.com
Enter 'X75' and do a search for device-drivers for your new Operating System (Windows 7?)
Download the device-driver.
Install it.
Print a test-page.

Printer won't print

Although Lexmark has not released a Windows Vista driver for the Lexmark X75 printer, there is a good chance that Vista will support your printer without the need for installing a driver (i.e. Windows Vista probably comes with a driver for your printer already built into the operating system). Windows Vista comes with support for 2.2 million devices and since your printer is not a new model, it is likely to be supported. Just try connecting it to a computer that is running Windows Vista and see if it is detected and installed for you.

We do have the drivers for Windows 2000 and Windows XP available for download from our driver database:

Installing printer on new computer with vista

You can download the most current driver for your printer directly from Lexmark by using the link below.

For Lexmark http://support.lexmark.com/perl/support/support.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:0:0:0

once there, use the product selector to enter your printer, then select your operating system, then download the driver. save to your desktop, when the download finishes, close all browser windows and double click on the file to install the new drivers.

Good luck

Lemark x75 doesn't print with vista os

Hello Jean,

Its the drivers alright. Pretty frustrating too.

Lexmark has not released Vista drivers for many of their older printers, including the X75. It won't work.

Sorry, just don't shoot the messenger.

Driver Available for Vista?

Hi,

To my knowledge, the Lexmark X75 is not Vista compatible and the Lexmark site does not list any drivers for this model. Further I was made to understand that they have no plans of coming up with Vista drivers for "discontinued" products. Sorry.

Offhand, am afraid your only option is for the purchase of a Vista compatible printer.

Alternately, you can try;

Since Vista supposedly has drivers for many printers pre-installed, though they are very basic and often will not allow other features to function fully, you can try auto-detect/install. The idea is to connect your printer to the PC/Laptop without installing the XP driver CD and 'keep your fingers crossed'; or

Force a bare install. Pop in the XP CD but do not install (exit). Rather, open the contents of the CD and look for an ".inf" file, right click to install and see if Vista will take it from there. There night be a couple of them inside the CD.

If your X75 still did not install by either alternative method, guess it will have to be a new printer..

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Don't have the cd installation software

Here is the link to the drivers and software: http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=228:1:0:616:0:0 You didn't specify which OS you have so after you connect to this site select you Operating System (OS) and then download the driver/s listed. They only listed X7500 and X7550. If this is not correct you simply need to search the site for a X75. I suggest you save the drivers in a folder you will create first then open the file. I.E.: 1.) make a folder named Lexmark X7500 on your desktop. 2.) Then download the file to it. 3.) Then open the folder and open the file. 4.) Follow the instructions it creates. You may need to buy the cd from Lexmark but as long as you have the drivers and any software they provide you should be OK.
