Question about Hitachi 43UWX10B 43" Rear Projection Television

Black Screen, No Sound

About a week ago I noticed that the picture would go to brown tones and then fade to no picture, after the TV had been on for about 30 minutes. Then, all failed - i.e., I still have power, but have no picture and no sound. Help!

There are numerous problems that can make this TV set to be dead. The most common is the coolant fluid between the picture tubes and the lens leaks out onto the boards below the picture tubes. You can verify this by looking at the boards. you will see a small puddle of oiley liquid or an indication of moisture damage. If that is not the case. You can get the service manual and look up the trouble shooting flow chart that Hitachi puts into their service manuals. I happen to have a copy I could share with you if you wish. You will of course need to know what to look for and understand how these solid state circuits work inside of this TV set. If you do not understand about this TV set's circuits, play it safe and call in a pro to assist you with this repair, as this is not a place to be experimenting around inside of. Good Luck

Color on TV changes to black and white, then after awhile changes back

It is possible to be the box, and not your tv. A good way to test is to see if it does it when you are watching a dvd or another source. (game system, blue ray, ect) Hope this helps! Good luck!

My Vizio LCD TV screen fades to dark. Sound stays on.

I w having this same issue when watching a Blu-Ray disc. I found it to be dependent upon what picture mode the TV was set to. By this I mean certain picture modes would cause the TV to dim during dark scenes of a movie. Changing the picture mode helped a lot.

TruTech PLV1615T has Sound but No Picture

Open the back of the TV,and look at the can shaped items on the board that the power cord is hooked to.If any of them have the tops,or bottoms bulged out, they need to be replaced. This should get it working again. So far I have fixed four of the same make, and model TV as this, and they all had either one,or two bad capacitors.I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please let me know.Thank You very much!

Picture faded to black, came back, faded again and had stayed black.

It seems your set has a loose conection in the high voltage circuits,in fact by now it should have many loose conections in different areas like the power supply and the horizontal deflection circuits,if you are familiar with tv service you can use the information as the first step to take, some of the loose conections are hard to see even for the trained technician but the one giving you this problem should not be hard to see,if you are not too familiar with tv service be safe and call for assistance from a servicer a least for an estimate.
