Please check that the amp has a Magnetic Cartridge Pre-amp built in. If it doesn't you need to buy one.

My Yamaha RX - 460 receiver's volume output is extremely low even when put at maximum setting. Sound does come through both speakers.

One of the most common problems that causes this is someone may have accidentally turned on the tape monitor switch. You turn the tape monitor on/off by pressing the tape 1 or tape 2 button. Hope this helps.

Watching streaming movies but sound very low even with speakers maxxed out. How can I boost volume?

Check your settings in Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices. Make sure vollume is turned up and that the default device under the Audio Tab for sound playback is set to your Altec speakers.

The volume of my speaker is so low, i cant barely hear it, i cant see anything wrong with it, i checked the AC in, i checked the jack for any short circuit still iget a very low volume out of the speaker...

look on the lower right corner of your screen. there should be a volume icon down there. it looks like a speaker. click that and see if it is set up or down low. if it is low turn it up then it should work. this controls the amount of sound coming out of the sound card on your computer.

Volume at 10 produces very low speaker output.!?

It sounds to me that all you are getting is the pre-amp stage of the amp and nothing from the power amp stage. As it is on both channels then it is something that is common to both. This could be something to do with the power supply of the power stage. Or whatever is on the heatsink. It could be that the amp uses a single audio amp IC for both channels. If it does my bet is that it's gone. If it uses two sets of semiconductors for the right & left channel it would be highly unlikely that both channels have gone, but not impossible.

Sound is low

try to see if the wave volume is on and maximum on the volume panel ( double click on vol icon on tray system (right low) ) ...also see if your speakers are plugged into the proper place ...and are not in the auxiliary out or something like this ...they should be plugged into the green middle out ...if they are simple stereo 3,2 jack ...so ..if the problem its still on ..its probably the sound card...(actually the pre-amplifier on it ..)

Scratching (static) noise coming from computer speakers

I foudn this in anther forum:
I have an ASUS motherboard P5E3 Premium. The audio that came with it was the Sound Max audio. I also noticed abnormal sounds coming from the speakers. They included sounds during hard drive activity and also with mouse movement. They were not loud but noticable. I searched all over the web but didn't find the answer. I stumbled across the fix myself. I also have vista-64. In the sound control panel > speaker properties > levels... there is a pc beep slide bar. I noticed that if it is disabled then the abnormal sound went away completely. Problem solved. Hope this helps.
