Question about Canon Pixma MP500 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Cheebster's suggestion may seem to be not helpful but I daresay that he is right. In my case, I have that 5010 error as well and we called in the technician to solve our problem under the 2 year warranty that was given to us. Apparently, the motherboard has issues and had to be replaced.

Hi Jakabi. That error code means there's a defective module in the printer. It's not user replaceable, unfortunately. The only solution is to contact the store where you bought it, or Canon's tech support to get a replacement. That comes directly from Canon support ! I know it isn't what you'd like to hear, but unfortunately it's the only way out of it. Thanks ! cheebster.

i broght the canon printer at denmark and i am now in ghana please what do i do
Our brand new MP510 reported it couldn't recognise the cyan cartridge, we took out the cyan cartride, then immediately clicked it back in...the light came on & it worked for a couple of days. Then it began being "not recognised " more & more frequently, but would work for a while if loosened then replaced, until it refused to be recognised AT ALL. If one tank can't be recognised the whole printer wont work which is VERY inconvenient. The shop we bought it from is a long drive away, but I managed to get a new cyan locally, & we've had no trouble for 2 weeks. BUT yesterday the yellow intermitently couldn't be recognised, and today refuses to be recognised at all...so my printer again wont function at all. It seems to be a design fault if one cartride malfunction negates the whole machine....most of my printing needs are black for documents.
