After cleaning, the power wont turn back on

Earlier in the day I cleaned my lens, then closed my PS2 back up. I sat down to play and it wouldn't accept power, I unplugged it, moved the cord... blah blah. Nothing worked. What could have I done to my PS2 during cleaning to create this problem? My PS2 is the old fat one, but a slightly newer model so I learned from opening it. It's two and a half years old. Please help...

80% chances that the flexible cable ,its unplugged. please open it a check if the power switc has this properly connected on both sides, and if is not broken.

if that didn't fix the problem check for broken solder joint ,exactly where the ac cord jack is connected

Ps 2 wont read game disc, goes straight to browser setup.

Your PS2 lens is probably weak or its dirty.You should try to clean your PS2 lens first.A dirt on lens wont let your PS2 lens to read your Game disc. Watch this video this will help you to know how to clean your PS2 Disc Reading Lens.

Try to place your PS2 at clean place and clean your PS2 regularly.

Your console is an old one,and your lens too is probably weak.Try cleaning your PS2 lens Watch Video at end of solution to clean your PS2 at home....
You can also follow these steps to make your PS2 to play GTA San Andreas:

Turn on your PS2 without inserting any disc.
On menu screen go to [options] by pressing 'triangle' button.
A new screen will appear select by pressing 'X' [DISC SPEED]and set it to [FAST]
Then insert the game disc.
Turn off your PS2.
Press and Hold the [Reset Button] till the blue light turns on.Release the Reset button and press it again.

It will take a bit more time to play game,but first i recommend you to clean your PS2 lens,watch this video.

I've got something else to add.......you can follow above steps to play DVD movies if your PS2 dont play any.....!!!

Wont load

Disc read errors are mainly due to worn out lens or dirty PS2 lens.Clean your PS2 lens to get rid of this problem if your lens is dirty.Watch this video it will help you to know how to clean your PS2 lens.Watch it carefully.

Remember to keep your PS2 in Dust free environment if you don't want your PS2 lens to get dirty.
If your PS2 can not play certain games like Rock band try this tip:

Turn on your PS2 without inserting any disc.
Menu screen will appear like:
Press the (triangle) Button to enter Version Information Menu that looks like
Highlight the Play Station Driver as above and again press (triangle).
New screen will appear like
Highlight the Disc Speed as above and press button,to enter Disc Speed Menu
And set it from Standard to "Fast".
After you set Disc Speed to Fast, Press and Hold Reset Button to turn off your console.
Then again Press and Hold Reset Button till the Blue Light turns on.
Remove the Reset Button and Press it again.

And after that wait till your game is loaded.

Ps2 wont play games

you will need to replace lens but due to the cost of the part i recommend you getting a new one or if not do a pot adjustment or clean lens with alcohol and Q-tip

Playstation 2 problem

I would try cleaning your Playstation games, Check and make sure that the games your trying to play are not cracked in anyway. Also, if you have your system standing vertically lay it down horizontally. Many times after you've closed the disk in it lens to far away from the lens.

open up your ps2 and clean the lens with a cotton swab. this happened to me a while back ago and it solved my problem. you might have to take the ps2 apart and make sure the whole thing is clean

My PS2 will not play PS2 games, but it will play PS1 games

Hi
If it will play DVD's this is a good sign. You will only need to clean the lens of the laser. Also clean the hub that the Disc rides on.
I hope your in the right posting area, this is for the Phat PS2 consoles with the drawer that comes out to put the CD in. Procedure is different for Slim PS2.

Disconnect power and turn the case upside down.
Remove the screw covers to expose the case screws. These are little square pieces or square rubber pads. You can use a thin knife blade to pry the hard plastic squares up.
Remove all the screws.
REmove the Warranty sticker to the right edge of the power socket.
Turn the PS2 over to set it right side up.
lift the top cover from the back and pull it forward slightly to clear the CD tray. Be careful of a possibly Ribbon cable attached to the lid going to the REset/Eject buttons. Roll the cover over to the right leaving the ribbon intact.
Remove the Cd tray lid.
Polish the Laser lens, and remove any lint or hair from the Cd area. Use Alcohol and cotton swabs to clean the laser lens. By the way, Alcohol will damage a PS2 Slim lens. All lens are not created equally.
Hook up the power and A/v Cables.
REmove the little white disc from the Cd tray lid.
Place a Disc on the spindle, and cap the disc with the little white piece that you removed from the CD tray cover.
Boot up the PS2 and test it, Continue cleaning until you get it to work.
Put it back together, and your in business.
