Mp3 wont work

If the file system is corrupted, you have put files into the wrong folders.
To fix it, simply copy over all of your files from the mp3 player to your computer, format the mp3 player, then synch the files back onto it.

System file corrupted

Have you tried replacing your firmware? I believe the firmware for that model is here http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/FIRMWARE/Lyra/Lyra-Mp3-Player-RD2760-firmware-207.shtml but you may can get a newer version from rca's support site.

I don't know exactly which model of the Thomson Lyra you have, but you can visit the Support page on their website, find your particular player model, and download software updates that might help solve this problem.

RCA LYRA RD2762B (4 GB ) MP3 Player

I had same issue and found a law office that filed a class action against RCA/Thompson. Here is the result:

Thank you for contacting David P. Meyer & Associates Co., LPA about the action our law firm filed against Thomson regarding RCA mp3 players. The matter was settled on behalf of the individual Plaintiff and the lawsuit was dismissed on October 10, 2007.

If you have a hard disk drive player that is experiencing a file error corrupt or similar error and you meet certain requirements, you may be entitled to a replacement unit at no cost to you. You must contact Thomson at 1-800-587-5518 no later than December 31, 2007.
