Control Panel > Printers & Faxes > right-click on the printer and select Properties. Depending on your printer make and model, the option to align your printer should be in that menu somewhere.

Installed new HP 74 and 75 cartridges.

First, try to clean the print head by following the steps below:
1. Remove the old ink cartridges and clean the print head nozzle with a damp cotton swab to remove any dried ink.
2. Reinstall the new ink cartridges and print a test page.
3. If the test page is still blurry, try running the printer's alignment utility. This is typically accessed through the printer's settings or system preferences.
4. If the alignment utility doesn't help, try manually doing an alignment page directly from your computer. Be sure to follow the instructions from the printer manual or from the printer manufacturer's website.
5. If the alignment page is still blurry, try reinstalling the cartridges to ensure the cartridges are securely in place.
6. If all else fails, you may need to replace the ink cartridges

I put in a new ink cartridge and I can't print....it keeps saying..."align printer". This has never happened to me before. What should I do? Thank you for your assistance.

You need to align a printer everytime you put a new cartridge in. It is a 2 step process
1 the printer will print an alignment page - usually coloured squares. 2 You then scan this page back into the printer - alignment is then complete.
this is the link to the manual page 42 through 44 explain about installing a new cartridge and the alignment process.

Alignment Issue

Browse through the menu, there must be a head alignment test/function. Also inspect the printer driver and/or utilities installed on your computer and find a head alignment function.
It's not complicated, either it's fully automatic, or you'll have to look at a printout and choose the best-aligned lines, depending on printer model.

HP 5510: "Press OK to print Align Page" appears permanently, even after performing the alignment. Fixya advised removing power to reset the printer, but that doesn't help. I removed and reinserted ink...

Hi,

To simply bypass alignment, do the following:
Press and hold the Setup button.
Press the Up Arrow button. The printer should be ready to print.
If print quality is unacceptable after bypassing alignment, troubleshoot the problem as follows:
Make sure the printer is loaded with clean, unused, white paper. If the paper is not feeding properly, check the paper path. Click here to see how.
Remove and inspect the cartridges. Click here for instructions. If the cartridges are new, make sure the protective tape covering the nozzles has been removed.
Reinsert the cartridges into the printer. Press Enter to align the cartridges again if prompted.
If the problem continues, check the cartridge ink levels. Click here to see how. Both cartridges must have ink in them for successful alignment, so replace empty cartridges.
Watch the area inside the front of the printer as the alignment procedure runs. You should see a blue light below the cartridges as they move back and forth. If you do not see the blue light, click the link at the top of this page to contact HP. The printer needs to be serviced.
Compare the alignment page produced by the printer to the illustration below. If any of the colors are missing, run the Clean Print Cartridges utility. Click here for instructions.
Abbildung 1: Alignment page

If the problem continues, clean the contacts. Click here to see how.
If none of the steps above solve the problem, replace the cartridges or have the printer serviced. Click here to see how to decide whether to replace the cartridges or service the printer.

Let us know if that was helpful,

Thanks

Shiv.

Dell 922 printer alignment problem-

try this...

Aligning Ink Cartridges Your printer automatically aligns the ink cartridges when they are installed or replaced. To verify your ink cartridges are aligned, you can print an alignment page. After you close the printer unit, press the Menu button. The alignment page begins printing. During printing, the operator panel display reads Alignment Page Printing. When complete, the message reads Auto Alignment Complete. Your ink cartridges are now aligned for optimal print quality.
You may also need to align ink cartridges when characters are not properly formed or are not aligned at the left margin, or when vertical or straight lines appear wavy.
To align the ink cartridges:
  1. Load plain paper. For more information, see Loading Paper.

  2. Click Start® Programs or All Programs® Dell Printers® Dell Photo AIO Printer 922® Dell Printer Solution Center.

  3. Click the Maintenance tab

  4. Click Align to fix blurry edges.

  5. Click Print.

The ink cartridges align when the page prints.

If this helps you plz rate this fixya. Thank you kindly. If you need more help post it & I'll be glad to do what I can.
