Hotpoint Tumble Dryer keeps pausing

That sounds like an overheating problem. When the machine pauses, the blower fan stops running and that allows the heat to build up enough to trip the high level thermostat. You can test this by running a cool cycle.

Drive belts don't squeak because they are made of rubber. Things that do squeak are rear drum bearing, front bearings or drum slides, idler pulley wheels or the tension springs.

The machine needs a full strip down, cleaning, de-fluffing and lubrication. Also check the exhaust hose and the grill outside except it appears you have a condensing dryer. Make sure that unit is clean..

Kenmore dryer 70 series doesn't always start, sometimes it will just put out a buzzing sound after its been running and trying to restart, will start back up after 20-30 minutes.

Open the dryer door and slowly rotate the dryer drum in a counterclockwise (CCW) direction. Rotate the drum 2-3 revolutions and then shut the door and see if it will start. If it continues to just hum and not start could indicate a voltage issue, motor issue or a friction issue. Open the door again and locate the door switch plunger in the upper or lower corner on the hinge side of the drum opening. Hold the plunger in while someone begins rotating the drum counterclockwise. While turning the drum counter clockwise and holding the door switch plunger inwards press the start button. If it starts, there is likely a friction problem or motor problem.

I assume the buzzing quit when you release the start button. Open the dryer door and slowly rotate the dryer drum in a counterclockwise (CCW) direction. The dyrer will not turn on. The dryer makes a humming noise but will not turn on.

Also, check the blower on the dryer to see if a article of clothing may have gotten stuck there and preventing the motor from running.

My gas dryer has started making a metallic screeching sound after its been running for a bit. Its coming from the rear of the dryer. I'm concerned that it might be the motor. It kind of comes and goes and...

Could have been that the alignment is out of way andis rubbing on when in a particular direction or with the load.
As you have observed the motor could be the issue , it will be good to open and look for the movement of the motor.
The suspensions can be a little out of alignment . also place the dryer in a level postion.
Check for uneven running due to any friction of the drive. If so it can agitate and make it rub on the sides.

Drum or blower will freeze up while tumbling

If it is an old dryer, or maybe you put a lot of clothes in it at a time, sounds like the friction pads are maybe worn. The drum is open on the front side and just has some teflon or plastic pads that the drum rides on. Maybe you are dealing with metal to metal, which doesn't slide too well. You can order those pads and replace them. Don't ignore this, check it out, because if it is metal to metal, that creates hot, glowing sparks, not good to have in your home.......

Dryer motor

if the motor buzzes when you push start then it is a bad motor.as long as the drum turns freely by hand.
