The spout, itself is hinged. It has two positions, an upper and a lower position. (Similar to a light switch). Make sure it is in it's lowest position when making juice, otherwise the liquid will collect in the inner bowl and leak out the sides of the juicer. Move the spout to the upper position to temporarily stop the flow of juice, such as when you change glasses or receptacles. Then, put the spout in the lower position to resume the flow of juice.

I seem to be able to put the crescent too in but the blade just spins and doesn't seem to be connecting to anything to pull it out. Talk about frustration!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOURCE: I have a Jack la lane power juicer and the power

The stainles bar has 2 springs on each end. Maybe this is the springs that you have. It is a power safety switch wherein there is no power if the bar is not seated in the right place.

Having trouble getting lid to lock into place

I just got one of these from my dad and last night I proceded o clean it.I took all three of the loose parts off and they are now soaking.
But the middle base part took a little figuring out.
This morning I finally got it.
The center part that you are referring to locks down tight I am assuming so there are no leaks.
What I found to do was that when putting the base back in I had to posistion the spout to the left as far over as I could get it and push down hard. Once it was flesh with the unit while still pushing it, I then turned it to lock it in place.
Hope this helps.

Try this. It works for the Stainless Steel juicer as well:

How to dissassemble Jack Lalanne Power Juicer?

After about a half hour I finally figured it out. I'll go through all the steps.

1. Remove pusher from chute.
2. Pull the locking bar down over the spout.
3. Remove lid.
4. This part is tricky. Stick the orange crescent tool into the blade holes and while holding the filter basket steady with one hand, turn the blade couterclockwise while pulling up.You do have put a little muscle into it. And remember, if you don't hold the filter steady, the whole damn thing just spins.
5. Remove the receptacle.

Good juicer, but it seems unnecessarily complicated.

The reset button

IT'S THE RESET BUTTON AND THEY ARE
ADJUSTABLE. REMOVE 4 SCREWS UNDER
JUICER TO REMOVE BOTTOM. YOU CAN
GET AT THE RESET BUTTON HOUSING AND
ADJUST THE SMALL SCREW EITHER WAY.
YOU WILL HAVE TO FIGURE OUT WHICH
DIRECTION. CLOCKWISE OR COUNTER.
IT YOU GET IT WRONG IT WILL CUT OUT
MORE FREQUENTLY SO JUST GO THE
OTHER WAY.

How to clean juicer

i had the same problem and figured out an easy way to open it without the tool. DO NOT take out the screws. I simply used chop sticks. I put one in each small hole and held the chop sticks in an X and turned the top counterclockwise!
