Thank you for replying but thats not the problem. WHen I plug the cable into my mp3 and turn the connect store on so I can transfer music - there is a windows error message that says error 800... and the device (mp3) cannot be located - is so frustrating

DO YOU GO TO YOUR COMPUTER ICON ON YOUR COMPUTER AND THEN PLUG IN YOUR SANDISK SANSA AND THEN DRAG YOUR SONGS TO IT BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT I DID AND IT WORKED
I got the same message when I created .mp4 files using the AVC profile "Main" in my video software.
When I changed to "Baseline" then the problem went away. Of course, it also had to follow all the more obvious restrictions for this device: max resolution 320x240, max 30fps, max bitrate (of 512kbbs? or is it 768?) and AAC audio.
Go to this website to get the firmware upgrade for the device:

The program or player is trying to connect to the internet, and it cannot establish a connection.
If your internet is connected, then make sure the songs that you are trying to load are in mp3 format - wma format is going to cause too many problems.
