Buzzing sound in Battlefield 2 (PC Game)

In the PC game Battlefield 2, I can hear a slight distorted click sound whenever I navigate to a new menu, then when I begin connecting to a server, a buzzing sound starts. It's almost as loud as my volume setting, so it's definitely too annoying to ignore. A friend of mine has the same laptop, and he had the same problem. He "fixed" it by purchasing the $20.00 Audigy software from Creative, a solution I'd like to try to avoid. I already tried changing my Audio settings to Software, Hardware, Enable EAX, Low, Medium and High settings and I turned off my sound card acceleration, no luck. Other games all seem unaffected. Anyone know of anything else I can try other than giving in and purchasing some $20 audio software? THANK YOU!!!

I tried all drivers from Dell's website already, sorry, I should have mentioned that. Dell even offers the "Creative Audigy Invitation" on their site, when you DL it and install, it has an UPGRADE button on the lower right sound manager gui taking you to Creative's website and asking for $19.99 to purchase the software.

Check to see if you have the latest audio driver from Dell, as it's sounds as there is a conflict with the game and the audio, click the link for dell drivers on your model. You may have inadvertantly loaded up windows sound drivers from a windows update, that would cause conflict as it's just a generic driver and not a correctly installed audio driver http://support.euro.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_P4_9400&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

When i play a game such as Battlefield Bad Company 2 on the Xbox 360. The sound works, like you can hear the water flowing, aircraft etc etc, all that is is fine. But when it comes to audio of different ...

Most of the sounds you are hearing good are background sounds. If you are running a surround system, you might want to try adjusting the output of your primary speakers, checking for the correct setting on your receiver, and verifying that your central audio is in the correct section ( receiver output ).

If you are not using surround sound,
Check the in-game menu (Pause) for an audio section, some games allow you to turn the character voices up and the music down. If you don't have that option, try using a new output cord from your xbox to Tv.

I think my video card wont dump its cache

Have you tried un-installing and re-installing the game? EA has posted instructions for doing so on their support website. I've pasted the website link and instructions for doing so below. I've had to un-install and re-install at least six times myself, and have seen exactly the error that you have described occur twice. I hate this game for the crashes that occur regularly. My system plays Crysis fine, with no crashes, but crashes regularly from 2142. I wish that for once and for all EA would fix this game. It is the best battle simulation in the world, IMHO.
