Check out www.installer.com
this site has your stereo's wire diagram.

The amp wires only go to the rear output (rca jacks on back of cd player)
It wont work right if it is connected to the front outputs on the back of cd player

Did you make sure you have no shorted or grounded speakers or speaker wires? Make sure you don't have a bad speaker also. If everything checks out, you may have a bad internal output ic.

Minimal sound output

Very well could be your amp setup. The only reason you would get lound sound from the stereo is if the mute is on or the audio outputs are fried. have you tried to hook up the stereo directly to a single speaker?

I got a Alpine CDA-9856 car cd player. When I turn it from radio to CD or Ipod it turn my amp off.

do you have another amp other than the one built into the head unit?

try checking all of the wiring and make sure the RCA cables are connected.

Bass sounds only

That is tricky one. Did you try adjusting the EQ on both the stereo and the amp? Is the Mute turned on because it will act like that? Is both rca jacks plugged in on stereo and amp?

Radio sound but NO cd or ipod sound

Radio is screwed.

But try these these steps:

Clean the eye of the head for reading CD. Must open up the radio.

IPod: check for good connections from Ipod to PCB.

Sound Issues

The player has a built in safety device which only allows it to turn up so high. It help to avoid burning out your equip ment. Best way is to put sound on one device 3/4 ways up and then use the other device for adjusting the volume from there.

For sound in one channel; either there is a wire unplugged or not getting a good contact, or the player is set for mono instead of stereo

Instaling alpine car/cd stereo cda 9807

Its probably your wiring harness that came with the stereo. Which can cause many more problems. alpine changed their wiring harness around that time. But they used the same plug, just wired different. So now there are crossed wires, but the plug fits, causing the amp chip to fry. maybe even further than the amp chip. an amp chip replacement runs about 80$ at a repair shop. if its just that.
